Ghosts of Manhattan, by George Mann

http://www.amazon.com/Ghosts-Manhattan-George-Mann/dp/1616141948/

Only part-way in, but so far it's got a steampunk/supernatural/Batman vibe going on - 1920s New York, but Britain still has an Empire, cars are steam-powered, there's a mob king-pin who may be an immortal, a vigilante with gadgets and no hesitation to kill, a beleaguered cop in between them, and a bunch of golems just showed up.

That sounds like a jumbled mess, but it works.

I'm into the second book of the Dark Days series by Jocelynn Drake (Nightwalker was the first one).  So far it's a good series, and I'm interested to see where she's taking it.

One of the comments at Goodreads calls the series a "dark urban fantasy" with a some romance elements.  That's a close-enough description for me.

Robert A. Heinlein: Stranger in a Strange Land. The complete uncut edition. God, what a dolt I was in high school, and what a timeless, amazing perspective on the human situation is this book.

It's only kinky the first time...

I didn't really start reading books until I got a kindle for a present 5 years ago.   At first I didn't like it because of the cost of books. I'm a lil bit frugal.   Then I discovered Bookbub.com     They send out a daily email listings of the best deals on whatever platform you might read from.  In my case Kindle-Amazon.   I haven't paid for a book in six months.   Free entertainment.

Right now I'm reading The Dangerous Edge of Things a crime/suspense/fiction.   Just getting into it.

Cuchulain of Muirthemne, by Lady Augusta Gregory: published 1927. This is a modern English compilation of ancient Gaelic legends from the days of spears and chariots. I guess this work is more popularly known in Ireland than here in the US. I would never have heard of it except it was commended by W. B. Yeats as an aside in the introduction to his collected works. I got the hardcover book, but it's available as an e-book. Wonderful stuff, if you are into warrior hero legends.

My big brother gave me the leather bound edition years ago. Uncut was so much better.

Currently I'm reading "The Princess Bride," the classic story of true love and high adventure, The Good Parts Version.

I'm most of the way through the 'Dark Days' series by Jocelynn Drake.  I like it.

I'm a little slow, at times.  :D  I *just* found out that there's a whole slew of comic books based on The Dresden Files.  I'm busy googling in the background to find 'em all.

I started reading a Dresden File book at Christmas flying home from to Florida.    I don't recall why I quit reading it.  Will have to pick it back up.

I've been enjoying the work of John Michael Greer, books and blogs relating to the rotting foundations of the New World Order, global capitalism and the corporate-fascist state. You can get the feel of all this by reviewing his posts at http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com/2016/01/donald-trump-and-politics-of-resentment.html

While you're waiting in vain for that apology, why don't you make yourself useful by getting on your knees and opening your mouth
