Two older sitcom themes take turns in my head. One is That 70s Show, which I'm watching for the first time.

    The same old thing, we did last week.

The other is According To Jim, starring Jim Belushi, which is a very upbeat instrumental.

Occasionally both of those take a short break and are replaced by Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors song titled Family.

I first heard bits of the song as a Tyson Foods commercial and I confess that I thought they were singing "Emily" instead of "Family" until I heard the whole song.

Tossup between Tangled and Frozen. Had both on my phone, and it wasn't even for one of my kids but a friend of the family who considered us honorary grandparents.

Cars is one of my favorite movies of all time. Still like to pull it out and watch it occasionally.

Wow. Just wow. Thanks for the reasearch! Now I know how my dad knew the song. He was 15 years old when it went number 1, and he couldn't have missed it. I guess it is a generational earworm!

I'm not familiar with the original, but I think I’ve heard soccer crowds singing along to it. How on earth do soccer anthems get started? Watching last year's rugby world cup from Japan, I was amazed to hear the fans singing the hook from "Pop Goes the World" by Men Without Hats.

Not 1 but 2 of the movies I watched this week featured the characters watching the 2nd* most vapid TV show ever to air. One featured actual footage from the show** but both played the infernal theme song.

* If there is a more vapid show than Mr. Ed, my vote would go to a one season wonder called My Mother, The Car. How that one lasted 30 episodes is a mystery to me.

Mr. Ed was in syndication when I was a kid, but I seldom watched it.  Seemed stupid to me.  My Favorite Martian, Lassie, Hazel... didn’t watch any of them.

Has anyone found an effective remedy for earworms?

I’ve tried doing mental exercises, or replacing one earworm with another, but nothing works.
