I got called to jury duty this morning. An amazing number of people showed up. I was looking around, thinking that we only had one court holding a jury trial this week, and would likely need no more than 160 people. Sure enough, after winding my way through a long line, they announced they had more people than they needed and sent everybody home.

Nice. Loved the ram. You got real close to the Pronghorns to get that shot with a phone.

I ended up using my phone slot as well as my camera. Made it easy to send pictures back home.

In Custer State Park, all the critters were close enough fory 300 mm zoom lens. Only took out the 500 mm once for some Pronghorns a ways off the road.

Made it back home yesterday after five days away, chasing wildlife and taking in the spectacular scenery of South Dakota's Badlands and Black Hills.

Trip out took nine hours, coming back, nearly 11  hours. Had to make a lot more stops to walk around a bit. Gonna take a couple days working out the kinks of spending five days, mostly in the car and driving nearly 1800 miles.

Have over 800 photos to document my fun. Now the fun part begins, sorting through them. I usually make a photo book on Shutterfly. We  have quite a stack of them now. One more for the pile. :D

Cats greeted me gladly and instantly started asking for treats. Guess there will be a lot of catching up to do. Wife was bored while I was away and cleaned the  house like crazy. Trash bin is full, where we normally have only a bag or two. Maybe I need to go away more often.

Will post a few photos soon.

Happy to hear you had such a great time. I'm the same way when I travel. I'm always uncomfortable on the way back home. Maybe it's the excitement of going someplace I like, but I'm fine in the car. But on the way home I need to get out and move my legs. Even just going to door county. My dad and I have a specific stop we hit when we come back because he knows how I am.

Hopefully you take your wife out to show how much you missed her and appreciate everything she's done.

Yep, I accounted for the hour I lost. Besides the drive out, I spent four days in the car touring the park. Seeing mostly Bison, I wasn't about to get out of the car. All shots taken out the window.

I'd pretty much had my fill of sitting in the vehicle all those hours.

Well worth it though. Only viewed a fraction of my photos so far, I've seen enough to say, "Mission accomplished."

Got photos sorted. Now to pick a few worth posting here.  Trying to do a few videos using my phone.  I still tend to concentrate on photos, by every now and then a scene clicks in my head and I grab the phone.

I have a good excuse for not keeping up in the newsgroups as I have been keeping up with writing more smut for y'all.

Yesterday evening I was hired for a lucrative year-long consulting gig. So that's a good day.

A couple of weeks ago, I closed a financial deal for the company I founded in 2011. It basically gave all the original investors, including me, a substantial dividend. My share is enough to pay my expenses for the next several years.

So when it rains, it pours. What's next, am I going to sprout wings?
