Title: Hello there
Post by: DurangoDan on May 09, 2019, 01:39:01 AM

It was suggested I say hello and introduce myself. I've been a lurker here for a little more than a year and decided to test the water.   I'm happily married.  Blended family. 2 are mine and 1 from her.  Living in the midwest.   Mid 40's.  Non smoker.  Play a bit of guitar.  Like to run.  6 marathons under my belt but they are too much to train for.  I just run for pleasure now.  I'm also a car guy.  Anything to do with cars I'm interested.

Dan,
Welcome to Kristen's Board.

Now that you're a member, you'll see that much more content is available.  Images and Videos being one of them.  The more you contribute, other features will become available.

Should you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

hmmmm, reads a bit like a personal ad.  Please be aware this is not a pick up joint.   Kidding of course.

Welcome again, and a woo for introducing yourself, and your super cute username.

:),
Jules

Your screen name is Durango, and you're a car guy.

Can we assume you're a fan of SUVs?

Cars? Yup, I can drive one of those (mine has proper gears and the steering wheel is on the proper side of the vehicle).

Running? No. Just no. Last time I ran for fun was (counts on fingers, then toes, then borrows cat's toes...) 33 years ago!

Blended family? Since I'm learning to draw with proper pens, that one produced all sorts of odd mental images...

Anyhoo, welcome, and, as MintJulie said, feel free to ask for help if you need it.

Welcome, Dan. Just a little heads up, most of the forums are easy going and polite. The 1408/Politics forums are a free-fire zone. So posting in there you are open to being flame roasted, and eaten. Not necessarily in a pleasant manner.

Enjoy the delights here and ask a moderator if you have questions.

Thank you for the welcome.

Yes, I drive a Durango MissBarb.  In my opinion, one of the finest vehicles on the road today.

And no Julie, I did not come here to pick up women.  Sorry it came out like that.  I am new to this sort of chat thing and see how it could be taken as you did .  As I mentioned, I am very happily married.  She's the third best thing that ever happened to me.  My two children being the first two.

Toe,
Blazing Saddles was a classic.  A favorite of mine.  My wife has a great sense of humor but no appreciation what so ever for classic comedies.  I might have to find the movie and let her fully appreciate a satirical Western.  I did read some criticism of the film recently for the racist slurs and other non PC humor.

I will be sure to ask if I need help.  Thank you for the offer.

Dan

I rather enjoy my Explorer.  I'm ready for a newer vehicle and my hubby is suggesting a Chrysler, a Durango in fact.  I'll admit it is stylish inside and out.  I like the bigger size of the Ford Expedition with my family though.  If one or two of the kids wants to bring along a friend or two, or in the coming years a group of kiddo's need carted off to the mall or movies, the Expedition has the room.  It might turn into a disagreement over the Ford or Durango, but Jules usually gets her way in the end.

As I mentioned, I am very happily married.  She's the third best thing that ever happened to me.  My two children being the first two.

That's so sweet - for your kids to hear.  Have you told her she's the third best thing that has ever happened to her?  That should go over good.  I'm sure she knows the children are the most important thing in your life, but I wouldn't recommend saying it out loud.  Just a little tip for you, Dano!  ;)

I'm sure she'd suffer through it for your sake.  A bunch of men flatulating around a campfire?  That should get her in the mood.  Might I suggest a RomCom (romantic comedy) afterward and make it a double feature.

You two get a room.   :emot_laughing:

We already did.

Confession time.

DurangoDan is my husband.  We were going to keep it secret, but I don't want to.  He's my hunny and I want to show him off.

When we sit watching TV, or he reading a book, or we are doing whatever in the evenings, I usually am sitting next to him, or laying with my head in his lap, with my laptop and he's peeking over at the screen on occasion.  When I'd glance through some photos to make sure they are within KB rules, he would always pipe in with, "Wait, go back to that picture," and make other comments.  For many months I've suggested he just sign up and look at all he wants.  Well, he finally did.

On KB, I've always referred to him as "Mark", which was a fictional name.  I will now refer to him as "Dan" so as not to confuse you, or confuse you less.  It is a fictional name also.   I may use variations such as Danny, Daniel, Dano, DannyBoy, Dan-Dan, etc.
After I teased him about his DurangoDan username, he 100% refuses to tell me the reason for 'Dan'.  Maybe somebody else can pry it out of him.  I'm quite curious.  Until then, please feel free to use any variations of 'Dan' I mentioned.

And now I have another name to juggle in my head.

You're not the only one that brought up this concern.  From here on out, in PMs, email, texts, etc, I will call him Dan.   (still don't know the origin).

I have one PM message subject line titled "I AM SOOOO CONFUSED!" that brought up all the names.  hahaha

For those that don't know, to some people, in PM, I'd call him by his real name.  But on the board I'd call him 'Mark'.  Then he registered as Dan.

Sorry everyone.  I blame Mark, I mean Ch..., I mean Dan for not just going with Mark.   But DurangoMark doesn't sound very good.  I really don't like the 'Dan' username, maybe DurangoDon? or DurangoDoug?   Just something about the name Dan.  But that's what it will be.

I'd recommend 'Young Frankenstein' for next weekend, if you liked 'Blazing Saddles'.  ;D  It's safe for kid's ears, and hilarious for adults.
