After seeing the absinthe photos and comments, I spent a few minutes wading through the long Wikipedia article on the drink, and am none the wiser.

Where did all the bad press come from?

Was it some kind of bohemian in-joke, like psychedelic bananas back in the mid-60s?

99% of what has been said about absinthe is largely anecdotal and completely unproven. But I have enjoyed it from time to time. It typically gives me a pleasant buzz with no hangover the next day. So I like it, but you have to be someplace that knows how to serve it with some ambience. Not for drinking at a kegger.

Ah, thank you for confirming what I suspected. I'd love to try absinthe at least once before I shuffle off, but not if it means buying a whole bottle of the stuff.

Tonight I'm going old school. While the rest of the world is enjoying an adult beverage I decided to have a Fresca. Something just a it different

I like the idea that a voice can just go somewhere, uninvited, and just kinda hang out like a dirty thought in a nice clean mind. Maybe a thought is like a virus,  it can kill all the healthy thoughts

On occasion if it's too hot, I'll put a few drops of water in it.  Otherwise I'm a neat freak, but I've been on an Old Fashion roll lately.  Just made my own simple syrup in fact.  Demerara sugar 1:1 ratio with water to make it richer so that half the amount of water goes into the glass.  Looked into making my own bitters, but FTS, takes too long and too many ingredients.

People like to drink what they like.  I'm good with you adding whatever you like. 

I never liked adding beverages myself.  The only time I did really was Cap'n and Diet Coke.
I'm usually neat, but on occasion recently, I've been branching out with bourbon cocktails.
Bourbon Manhattan, Bourbon Sour, Bourbon Boulevardier, Old Fashion, and Kentucky Mule which has carbonated ginger beer. 

I'm drinking water right now while watching Ozark.  2 cups of coffee after dinner.

Second shot of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, for a three hundred dollar bottle of whiskey, it is smoother than a nice ass.

Earlier I had an Alexander, when my friends came over to shoot the shit.

nutmeg to garnish

I wanted to finish off the last sip of brandy, but hate the slight wine aftertaste.

I've had about 7 of these mixed vodka blood orange chai things from a local distillery that I'm too drunk to find the bottle for.  They're very tasty.  I'm looking forward to the hangover in the morning.
