The last couple of days have been blue skies and endless sunshine... so welcome after a grim couple of weeks. Apart from snow we seemed to have the lot, the worst being the torrential downpours leaving our local streets and even the main road round here, underwater. I've been through flash flooding before but this was exceptional... still, as wifey says, our gardens need the rain...

If you've got a cock then use it, if you're a lady abuse it.

careful. Florida has immense bugs everywhere!!!!

And the ground squishes!

Are you sure you were stepping on the ground if it was squishing?  ;D ;D

Those bugs are called Palmetto Bugs. Giant cockroaches.

1:45pm wow, no shit, Staci!  :emot_kiss:  Ducking!

I just got an emergency alert for flash flood, and then I saw the tornado signature above.  It's fucking DARK outside!  Looks like it'll miss me to the West a bit.

edit, 20 minutes later: Nope, the wall cloud just went right fucking over me!  No tornado, though.

edit2, 2 hours later: second tornado passed South of DFW (whew!), and lightning struck the building just North of me <SNAP! BOOOOOOMMMMMMMM>

That storm system stretched all the way up north. The afternoon here was stormy, but I am sure not as bad as you folks down Dallas way.  Be safe.

Lightning, thunder and torrential rains for about two hours. Thunderstorms like that are rare on the west coast.

Looks like everywhere from Lubbock up past Oklahoma City and on into Kansas City is having a bad evening with severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, but it'll miss the DFW Metroplex tonight.  It'll move into the Metroplex tomorrow (Tuesday) around sunrise and continue for a few hours, although weaker than it is this evening.

Keep your heads down, Okies!

Here in Tucson, Arizona, we have had an unusually cool May.  We have not hit 100F yet.

I'm enjoying the cool weather, although I suspect this is all aprt of other states having such harsh weather.

It’s the Jet Stream, which has an unusual dip, due to a big low pressure system in the NW and a high pressure system in the SE.  Keeping Arizona cool, and dumping a ton of rain in the upper Midwest...

I agree on the "ton of rain in the Midwest". More to come tonight. Wish Chirp would quit her rain dances.... ;D ;D

Just got a “Special Air Quality Statement” from Environment Canada telling people with breathing problems to stay indoors today. We have 29 wildfires burning in northern Alberta and the smoke is drifting south causing problems. Thursday you couldn’t see more than 50 metres ahead of you (and less in some places) because of smoke (I joked that if we had fresh salmon, we could smoke it naturally without a smoke house). Yesterday and today, you can smell it but visibility is 4-5 kilometres. Fire bans are in place including no charcoal barbecues (spark hazard).

That is all.

Well fuck me to tears, we weren't supposed to have any severe weather until Thursday!

The red ones are possible tornadoes.  The only active warning zone currently is NW of Amarillo, but I'll bet that's gonna change in the near future.

Here's the one headed my way.  Looks like it'll miss Katie and Staci, but I'm dead in it's path if it gets ugly.

Did you move?  I thought you were more on the SE side of Dallas.  Fair Park/Cedars?

I grew up between Benbrook and Weatherford on that map.  Right below the second rotation storm.  Survived two tornados in that area.

DFW is about to get pasted by another severe thunderstorm headed SSE.  It hasn't spawned any twisters yet, but there's rotation in a number of the cells.  Katiebee will get hit in just a few minutes by the leading edge, I'm guessing.  I'll get it 20-30 minutes later here down South.

edit: core is past,  power out,  another tree in back ripped in half due to 70mph winds.  Surfing via phone at the moment...

We only got a brief spate of it. Power remained on.

Took awhile to get down here.  Torrential rains, but no hail or tornados.  Knock on wood.

I watched the news in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep.  Yikes.  That crane falling on the building!
