Snow mixed with some rain. Weather to be crappy next couple days. We could get up to ten inches of snow before it's all over.

Minneapolis snowplow crews were put on round the clock alert yesterday. They'll serve 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Plows will be on the streets round the clock. Kudos to our snowplow crews.

Had some appointments at the VA this morning. I headed out on time and only got as far as the alley and promptly got stuck. Snow deeper than my car frame. Not only deep snow, there is ice under the snow.

Two neighbors came down after getting another vehicle out of the alley. A little scooping and soon they had my car back in the garage. I think it'll be there awhile

Wintery mix most of the morning which turned to rain in the afternoon and evening which started to freeze last night. Supposed to get more of the same today. I'm out of coffee creamer, so I'll have to go outside today.

Going to be in the mid 70s every day this week. I’m trying to get back in the swing of working. I came down with a respiratory ailment the week before Thanksgiving, and I haven’t done shit since then. Ugh.

Well we really got walloped. Snow started Tuesday and ia winding down today with a few final flakes. All told we ended up just a few flakes short of 15 inches. Deep piles of white stuff are piled high as snow was shoveled from sideways and driveways.

Sun is expected to be back tomorrow and calmer weather ahead for next few days. Yes, we're way ahead of average snow fall for this time of year.

Sunny today, but the projected high is only 64°. It will be in the 80°’s by Monday.

A few weeks ago we got dumped on with a three day snowstorm of several inches followed by bitter cold. The city is still clearing the streets. They need to push back the snow so emergency vehicles can get down the street with cars parked there. Some streets are already restricted to parking on one side.

Mother Nature is helping. Temps in the 30s for a few days and now rain today will melt some of the snow. Yes, I know. It's Minnesota.. winter will still be around...sometimes in to April.

Highs in the 60°s, lows in the 40°s all week. Very pleasant. And the electric bill should be great also. Last month’s cold snap at Christmas was expensive.

Newspapers here been reporting that our area is 10 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year. Where Wisconsin is getting snow, we are luckily receiving rain.  Not much sun so far, but also, no snow.   8)

Down here in Baja Sur, it is (in the minds of the locals) mucho frio. Forecast is calling for a high of 22C (72F). This isn't that cold. But the fucking wind out of the north is making it feel much colder than it is.

In the higher elevations along the US-Mexico border, they are warning of snow and freezing rain and advising people to not travel on the highways. Winter tires are not a thing in Mexico.

Stay warm folks. I'll be throwing an extra blanket on the bed tonight (no furnaces down here).

That is all.

I remember one year we went to Mexico in January. Our first night the temps were in the upper 60s and we slept with the window open. No screens on the window and we had a couple mosquitoes buzz around our timeshare. Just a small annoyance.

The next morning I was talking with the guy we bought the timeshare from. Nice guy and we were catching up when I mentioned they needed to add screens to the windows. His mouth fell open and he gasped, "You had the window open!" Then he remembered we were from frozen Minnesota. (He was a Canadian) He relaxed and we went out separate ways.

All week long it was so fun seeing the locals walking around bundled up in n hoodies and sweatpants while us tourists were in shorts and tee-shirts. :D

One of my first friends I made at college was from Detroit. And I remember the first time I saw him wearing shorts and a T-shirt outside in 40° weather. Totally freaked me out. He laughed and said it wasn’t very cold at all. He couldn’t even see his breath.

Of course, I grew up in the era when moms would wrap you up like that kid in Christmas Story when it was cold outside. My kids basically never wore winter coats. Kids today wear shorts and hoodies 24/7/365.

Even up here, our teenage grandchildren rarely wear coats, wearing either shorts or sweats and a hoodie. Meanwhile, it is three layers of clothes when we venture out.
