Fox News completely jumped the shark today by calling anyone who wants Social Security and Medicare a socialist, and never realizing that they were attacking their own audience.

Just how is Social Security an entitlement program if you've paid into it?  It's like telling a person his savings account is an entitlement.

Getting out of Social Security the amount you paid in would be simple. Getting all that Social Security pays for, funds for life, is a Sixty Eight Trillion Dollar unfunded obligation of the U.S. Government... full faith and credit stands behind bonds... with no way to pay it ever... Today Social Security outstrips income with outflow, with growth in the deficit in the program building exponentially each coming year.

The deficit spending and squandering of our politicians, done through use of Social Security excess income has for decades caused the troubles we are in today, and we are doing nothing to even slow it down, let alone reverse the trend. It is a ponzi scheme, not an insurance program. The next step... wait for it... is confiscation of private pension funds that are actually now existing, and planned to exist from 401K plans, and other savings plans, and this will happen under President Obama, in the name of saving Social Security... no problem, right?

Not begrudging so much as saying it must be paid for in some manner, and confiscation of your savings, your pension and your wealth is not the way we operate under capitalism and a democratic republic form of government. Cut all the tax rates as part of a deal to CHOP federal spending and allow individual States to make decisions about what they will pay for or abandon, deciding along with their residents.

Back to basics.

Social security fully pays for itself.  The only reason it might fall short is because the government has been borrowing from its funds.

And what is the result of that? The result is that the Federal Government now has an unfunded mandate liability for which it cannot pay, without significant change. Stop borrowing, stop spending, find ways to fulfill the spirit and letter of the law, and end perpetuation of the current conditions.

Social security fully pays for itself.  The only reason it might fall short is because the government has been borrowing from its funds.

We as a country have to decide what we need to do.  Take care of our citizens or fight undeclared wars around the world. I say take care of the people.  Sure, these programs have been subject to people defrauding them but overall, the citizens being helped by them would be in a more world of hurt if these programs were discontinued.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.

You can argue about truth, but it doesn't change what is true and what is false.

If you fund an undeclared war by refusing to put it in the budget and just keep special authorizations outside of the budget you end up creating a deficit.

Which is how the Republicans have run us into the ground, and now refuse to do what they refused to do while creating that deficit. E.g., pay for it by increasing the revenue stream.

If the Republican party wants to be known as the party of fiscal responsibility, they first have to take ownership of the spend, spend, spend mentality that they fostered for the last 24 years. Spending outside of your revenue stream always results in a deficit.

But it seems that Republicans, and rich guys, can't do basic math.

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't.

President Obama extended the existing tax rates in 2010, saying it made no sense to raise taxes in the middle of a recession. He sought the expiration of the existing rates,
and only with his focus group tested polls determined what changes to his plan he seeks by requesting the House of Representatives, knowing his plans run afoul of House votes.

Instead of ever leading, and negotiating in good faith, he again chose to spend this week playing golf, and sending the same rejected "proposal" via tax cheat Timmy Geitner which received it's expected reception, in the House and Senate.

The Sequester was also President Obama's idea, and negotiated in 2011 in good faith, in order then to obtain an extension of the Debt Ceiling. He has managed to spend every dime of that Debt Ceiling increase, produced zero as to spending reduction, and in fact is seeking extensive further stimulus funds for 2013, not clearly specified, with the plan being to now ignore the agreement he made the last time, just forget it, and buy what he wants to sell this time, albeit without one dime of actual spending eduction in 2013, but with a promise that "maybe we can look at it down the road".

Obama has continued his Campaign, continues raising funds and seeking to badger the elected Representatives with tweets from his 'low information followers', and will get the answer he knows is the correct one, STOP THE SPENDING and accept TAX REFORM to raise revenue in the short term, eliminate or extend by several years implementation of Obamacare for 5 years, while allowing and fostering growth of the economy.

His arrogance will get the results he must now expect.

He was elected to a second term with a plank in his platform to raise taxes on the upper 1%.

The House of Representatives members were each elected by the same electorate, and none of the Republicans, also cannot think of any of the Democrats who ran on a campaign of raising your taxes, just the opposite. It is up to the President to propose a solution that will garner support of the majority of House Members and Senators. Let's see that leadership in action.

President Obama is insisting, so far, on his proposal to raise tax rates, which done according to his request exactly will raise enough new money to cover 8 1/2 days of operating the US Government. Since he has an annual deficit of 1 Trillion Dollars a year so far, and is seeking unlimited future deficit spending, why is he so worried about 8 1/2 days? Certainly not anything to do with reason...

He is off to a great start... more of the same nonsense as the past 4 years...

Strange how the majority of the electorate, support the raising of taxes in polls. Republican, Democrat, makes no difference. They support raising of taxes by 70% or better.

But no. Let's make sure that those poor people who make over $250k a year don't have to pay anywhere near what the rest of us pay.

After all, they make jobs.

And hire illegal immigrants to staff those jobs. Or send the jobs overseas.

They certainly are worthy of sympathy.

The majority, if they indeed want their taxes raised, are about to get their wishes. More accurate would be to say that the majority who voted for President Obama want someone elses taxes raised, i.e. a free lunch. Class warfare was the central point of his campaign, and he continues to seek raising taxes in the middle of his own recession.
The Congress and President agreed that the tax cuts he requested would end in 2012.
The Congress and President agreed to cuts in Defense and Non-Defense at 50-50 ratio beginning at the end of 2012 at roughly 100 Billion a year for 10 years, as the minimal reduction in order to grant an increase in the Debt Limit, following the 2010 election and in 2011. That obligation does not go away. The budget for 2013 already assumes these facts, and the President has ordered these facts ignored by his Cabinet members.

Ball is in his court, in language he may understand, to lead and propose something that both houses of Congress can pass, LEAD being the operative word.

Joan used to be a nice person before she started reading Breithate and became a brainwashed zombie.
