Been able to whistle properly.

(I think there is a James Bond story where Ian Fleming suggests that not being able to whistle is a sign of latent homosexuality - or have I just imagined that)  :o

Woah, I had thought that it was just me only who had problems whistling.
I dunno about that James Bond story, would have to look it up. But maybe it was your imagination only.
(Hurriedly checks Wikipedia and other articles/sources)

A tuneful whistler here, though I've never picked up the art of making piercing whistles by inserting two fingers (or thumb and finger) into the mouth.

I wonder if not being able to whistle has something to do with not being able to control certain muscles in the mouth. Something like people being able to wiggle their ears. I can wiggle my right ear until the cows come home, but can't wiggle my left. Or flaring the nostrils. Or other, more interesting parts of the body. :)

Anybody can whistle with two finger in their mouth.  It just has to do with finger placement.  I've taught people by me putting my fingers in their mouth, then it's the proper placement of lips.   

I have taught the thumb/index finger from the same hand formed in a circle folding the tongue back in the center of the tongue.
I have also taught two pinkies folding the tongue back at the sides of the tongue.
