There is a reason for that, GRM.

There are more than one independent movie made in the last 10 years that are very close the horrors.most dedicated themselves to showing the part of the war if their protagonist. The only mainstream movie that comes close is War Horse.

My father has told me that most wars are filled with long moments of boredom interspersed with brief, intense moments of absolute terror. From my studies and readings, WWI was a bit different.

I read a small book some years ago, whose title sums it up.

Here is little tidbit. The drums in the first part give an idea of what the battlefield echoed to up through the 19th century. The drums were not the anemic snare drums so beloved nowdays. They were the tenor drums, they thudded and rolled with the heart beat.
