Been seeing this commercial on a lot lately. Guess it was one of the Super Bowl ads for Twix candy bars.
Every time I see it cracks me up.


P.S. The phrase cracks me up was not intended as a pun... but,........

I wonder why a USA ad is voiced over with north-eastern (aka geordie) UK accents?

Now that is a surprise. Thanks for the video clip.

In a movie called "Jumper" Jamie Bell used his native County Durham accent and I remember people (Americans, I think) complaining about his 'fake' UK accent.

It's one of my favourite regional accents, and I'm told it's one of the most difficult to get just right. I also hear that one Geordie can tell from which side of the Tyne another Geordie comes.

Maybe it's time for me to shuffle off and listen to Lindisfarne. Saw them performing live once. An amazing experience. For the encore the band members put down their instruments one by one and descended to the floor of the hall to form a conga chain with the audience. One member of the band stayed on stage to play a jig on his harmonica. How's that for audience participation?

True

I have spent a lot of time in that area of the UK and some residents of the mining villages (who have their own dialect heavily influenced by scandinavian words) take umbrage that the townies call themselves geordies
