My boyfriend had a out of town family wedding commitment last Friday, Saturday and Sunday out of town.
He had to be out of town 3 days/2 nights this week because of work, and the other days his youngest daughter was sick while his ex was out of town.  So, no sleepovers in 7 DAYS.

What makes my day.......he'll be here in 20 minutes and won't be leaving until we go our separate ways to work on Monday morning.    :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

:),
Jules

Three nights in a row, no new bites and no evidence of bed bugs.

plus

as well as diatomaceous earth... fucking EVERYWHERE.

We'll continue on with:

 plus

If you think you're ssfe from 'em, you're not.

I know they'll be back, as my neighbors haven't cleared them out yet.  At the moment, I'm getting a good night's sleep.

Edit, one week later: they're BACK again.  Two or three of the little bastards were chewing on my legs last night.  Unfortunately, bed bugs aren't as fastidious as cockroaches are: bed bugs rarely clean themselves.  Even if they walk all over the micro-encapsulated poison that I've laid down, it doesn't do any good until they clean themselves and ingest it.  One of 'em from last night died shortly after it's meal.  Apparently they DO clean on occasion after a blood meal.
Shit.  I'm back to Whack-A-Mole.

Sitting here watching someone sleep.   He's so peaceful.   I could watch him for hours.

Obviously wasn't me that you were watching. My gut gave me a horrible night of interrupted sleep.

On the bright side, I'm sitting here waiting for the cabinets to be delivered. They need to "acclimate" for a day before the actual installation. Friday morning is the installers clean up and the counter top measurement (quartz). Next Monday is the start of the flooring installation.

A lot of sitting around waiting for stuff to happen then watching it happen.

That is all.

The job gave me a major boost today.

My company has an award called the Pinnacle Award. The senior executives can only nominate 5 people.

My team was nominated for its performance during our Federal CFPB Audit.

And I was one of the five our exec nominated.

I'm changing employer soon, and I found out today that somebody I currently work with went and found a quiet place for a cry when they found out.

It's an odd thing to be pleased about, but this is one of those places where people normally only tell you if you're doing something wrong, it's a really negative place (that's a big part of why I'm going). It's just nice to know that somebody actually thought I was making a positive difference, and will miss me.

1. the counter plugs --- wired correctly BUT I had forgotten about clipping the tabs on the right side of the plugs. Therefore, they were in a permanent short. Clipped the tabs and the problem went away. In my defence, I've only done counter plugs once before and didn't notice the clipped tabs.

2. the 4 way/3 way switch problem was one of incorrect wiring. I wired the new 4 way switch the exact same way as the original (the wires on the right side were wired to the right side of the new switch -- left side to left side). HOWEVER, the new switch was not wired the same way internally.

So, the schedule for next week is --

1. New flooring installed on Monday
2. Cabinet installation inspected by the vendor on Tuesday
3. Installation of new over-the-range microwave/range hood on Wednesday
4. SFA on Thursday
5. Back to work on Friday
6. Counter tops installed on 4 August.
7. Plumbing and dishwasher reconnected on 9 August (5/6 are weekend, 7/8 I'm working).

Then, it's back to normal.

That is all.

Just a good time last evening.    A nice visit.   Some games.   Good food.   A nice evening walk with those I love.   A good nights sleep.   I keep thinking back to last night and smiling.

I've got a kitchen floor again. Replaced the ugly ceramic tile with vinyl tile.

Boy, what a difference in price. Ceramic tile install would have been between $4,500 and $6,000 not including the price of the actual tile. The vinyl tile including installation came in at $1,700. We've got 2 bathrooms, a stairway and small area at the garage entrance that are going to get the same treatment in the future.

That is all.

I'm much happier without tile.     It's always cold in the winter and I don't like cold.   Against everybody's warnings, I had cork put in my bathroom.    The flooring people were okay with it saying it will be waterproof, but the contractors and even city inspector warned against it.      I love my cork, it's unique and beautiful.   I would actually love it in the rest of the house.

Because it's not the bathroom, I think you would have no issues with cork in other rooms of the house.

What made my day today --- I've got a working microwave again. Brand new, 2 years old, over the range (bought it and it sat in our basement for two years). If we want, we can put the fridge and stove in place and do some proper cooking.

That is all.

We had an employee meeting today. An hour and a half Town Hall. I really wish they weren't so in love with their voices.

Anyway, at the end they announced the winners of the company Pinnacle Awards.

My name was there, for conceiving, establishing, maintaining, and running our documentation versioning and control program. It's all common sense.

And the cash award is also welcome.

Way to go Katie.  How fitting one of our top KBer is a Pinnacle winner.  Glad they appreciate your work and throw in some money too along with the award.
