Love that!

I had a few short road trips with my dad, and those were some of the best times with him. We never left the state, but on the road for two hours one way gave plenty of talking time. Even just sitting in silence is a special memory for me. I know in my heart it is the same for you two🩷

I got my first regular SS payment by direct deposit TODAY.  You’ll get paid on the 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month. You should get a notice with details concerning timing soon. I got notice of acceptance June, and 1st payment shortly thereafter. But here is July’s payment… at the end of August. So plan accordingly.

I've been out of town the past week cause I went on a little trip with my sister. Hit a couple spots in Wisconsin.  Cave of the mounds, and some sunflower farms. We had no real plan, she just wanted to get away, but didnt want to go alone. Wednesday we just spent the whole day in a hotel room just watching tv and ordering room service. She had to use some vacation days or lose them, and asked if I wanted to go.with her. We went to a casino on the second day. I pretty much broke even, maybe came out a little ahead, but she won a couple hundred dollars. After she won that we said we were done gambling, and that paid for most of the rest of the trip.

Just fun to get out with her.

Wife's Physical Therapist was here this morning.  She was a young Asian lady with a delightful sing song voice. I could listen to her read the phone book all day. (What there's no phone books anymore?)

So, they go out to the kitchen to do the PT. I went into the front room to stay out of the way. Asked our Alexa to play some Taylor Swift music and started on the paper.

PT finished they came back up front. The therapist said she was happy to hear "her" music being played by someone like me (old guy)

I liked being thought of someone who's happy crossing generations with my music tastes. Just glad she didn't see my Frank Sinatra albums.

Geritol??? OMG... it's still available. I know it was taken off the market years ago. Guess it was basically wine. No wonder it was popular with old people.

Just checked and it's back on the market. Apparently there was a 13 year legal battle before they could put it back out.

Thanks Staci, going to stock up now. ;D

Second Sunday on a row we got to have a family dinner. With daughter and son in law staying extra time to do work on the friend's house where they stay when they visit we all went out for brunch again. Wife's son again joined us too so whole immediate family was together.

I was at the head of th table like a patriarch.
Wife and daughter were across from each other and wife beckoned daughter over. Part of the the work they're doing is replacing the toilet and sink in the upstairs bathroom. Wife handed over her credit card and told daughter to go get the toilet and sink now before the price goes up. Could be a fewmonths before they get back here again.

I loved how daughter's eyes lit up as wife handed her the credit card. Already heard they got both items for $210.

Update to the above post. Got a letter from SSA. They told me about the payment that they made and that I will get paid on the second Wednesday of the month, so, my next payment will be October 9th. Also, my payments will be 268.00 more per month than I thought because they decided that since I just turned 63 that they will pay me as a 63 year old instead of a 62 year old.

I’m saying you are wrong. But that’s not how it worked for me. I got approved in July, got my first check in July. Did not get paid again until September. They say the benefits for any given month are not paid until the following month.

From the letter:

We pay Social Security benefits for a given month in the next month. For example, Social Security benefits for March are paid in April.

* You will receive 2, 268.00 around September 2, 2024
* This is the money you are due for August 2024
* Your next payment of 2, 268.00, which is for September 2024 will be received on or about the second Wednesday of October 2024.
* After that, you will receive 2, 268.00 on or about the second Wednesday of each month.

WMMD... Seeing our old friend PHTLC back again.

We've lost some good people along the way but still a good influx of new blood. KB just keeps chugging along.

Here's something to make you smile. Both  our cats used up the last of their nine lives :'(.so I can't tease you with them anymore.

Bummer, Bob. How old was the last cat?  House will feel kind of empty now.

Right when I thought things were starting to slow down for me, it pics right back up. The shocking part was they were all good things.

Couple days ago, spent an entire day with my sister, and our new Mom. We went out for breakfast, and then spent the day just doing random impulsive things. Went shopping. Went and spent some time at the botanical gardens where they are just starting to prune some of the plants. Then went down to the wildlife sanctuary and fed some deer and geese. We ended the day having margaritas and tacos. It was great just to get to know more about her. Things we don't really get to talk about with the guys around. I would think my dad would do the same for her sons, but you men are weird, and probably won't see the point.

Sunday was an interesting day. I went to my dad's for the game, Allan did not go. What he did do was go to his parents house and told his mother we are engaged after she pressed him about marriage again. Then th phone calls and the texts came flying in saying I needed to head over to their place, I said I was with my family for the packer game. She demanded that I leave there and head "home" right away. She kept adding emojis so I know she was just having fun with it. They knew I was going to go with Allan to watch the bears lose!🤣
This did make me tell my dad and the whole famolf for that matter about the whole engagement thingy. It was a lot of discouraging comments about wanting to marry a bears fan, and i said if I can get past his marine arrogance, they can deal with the bears fan thing. Again it was all in good fun. There were some questions about when, and I said we are just happy with how things are. "Just consider us already married, we just having done the paperwork yet."

Then work was just busy. The temps were up, and people are doing all kinds of things, so the boarding was full. New puppy's to play with, and regulation customers as well.

Oh, and Shannon is doing fantastic. All those days of panic and worrt have been out behind her as she has her mom there A LOT! her mom lives farther away than I do, so it was nice that she decided to go down there and spend as much time as possible. I think they are planning a week there, and then a week back home. Just until Shannon stops having all these worries. She'll be a great mom, she just needs to believe it herself.

Anyways, I droned on enough. :emot_kiss:

Lovely update S.
You may have created a "monster" with the fake engagement. Mom will gradually increase the pressure as time goes by. What's your game plan for that one?

Meanwhile enjoy. ;D
