Chicago Little League team wins United States title

An all Black Little League team from the far south side of Chicago came up through the loser's bracket to beat Nevada for the title of United States Little League champions.  Tomorrow they will play South Korea for the World title. When things look bad in the world, fun to watch young teens band together for a positive cause.

Though the Jackie Robinson baseball team from Chicago lost to South Korea for the World Little League Championship, they did manage to capture the hearts of many Chicagoans and take their minds off the violence and other negative stuff in the news. A job well done and may they be able to repeat next year.

Yes, I've been feeling rather snippy for the past few days.

And this is NOT intended as a personal criticism.

But why did you feel compelled to point out that this team is "all-black"? Does the racial make-up of the team matter so much that it needs to be indicated? Does the fact that the team is "all-black" make their accomplishment greater? Should we view them differently, or support them more strongly, because they are "all-black"?

Just wondering...
