The story I'm trying to rediscover involves some moving men who take their "revenge" on a husband and a daughter in a family with whom the movers previously had business dealings.
Remembered aspects: it might have been English, not American, because I think the men were referred to as removers rather than movers; and
towards the beginning of the story the husband goes out late at night in his car to fetch the daughter, who has herself gone out earlier and now needs a ride home.
