Common sense?

There are a lot of people out there who have possession of firearms that lack even BASIC common sense.

Just look at the videos on YouTube of the videos of negligent discharged, and self-wounding. There are people out there who shouldn't be allowed sharp implements, clubs, or motorized equipment because they cannot be trusted to have common sense. And a goodly portion of them are conservatives and republicans.

A good proportion of the 2nd amendment wing nuts fall into this category.

Force of law should be there for stupidity like this.

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Man shoots, kills brother
to stop hammer attack
on girlfriend

ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – A 56-year old man is in police custody after fatally wounding his brother in an attempt to stop him from attacking a woman with a hammer.

According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 5800 block of De Giverville Avenue, located in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood.

When police arrived at the scene, they found 48-year old Gary Peters suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. Peters was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A woman at the scene, who identified herself as Peters’ girlfriend, said the two of them were at the house with Peters’ brother. The woman said Peters attacked her with a hammer and his brother tried to intervene.

Peters allegedly attacked his own brother with the hammer and that’s when the brother retrieved his handgun.

The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for blunt force trauma injuries to the head. She was said to be in stable condition.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing. No charges have been filed thus far.

God Bless America (2011)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1912398/

Loveless, jobless, and terminally ill, Frank has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and offs the stupidest, cruelest, and most repellent members of society. He finds an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy, who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement.

I confess this movie was an unexpected discovery for me. I had no information about it until watching the hilarious trailer on 9gag, and the film is as great as the trailer itself. The movie is centered on a middle aged, divorced man, Frank, who hates his annoying neighbors, stupid and exploitative TV shows, and all kinds of bullshit. After Frank learns that he has a brain tumor, he decides to resolve all these problems in his very own style!

He grabs his gun, steals his reckless neighbor's car and hits the road. After he's done with his first target, he teams up with 16 year-old Roxy (who also hates the corrupt society), and they start to kill everybody who deserves to die including Tea-Party members who protest Parkinsons' sufferers, religious racists and anti-gay groups, as well as people who make noise in the cinema, etc. It's a dark humor reminiscent of Natural Born Killers.

In one scene we see a 'Jesus Camp' poster behind the ticket booth. I think it's purposeful and may hint at the ideas of the director.

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

Posting from Breithate again Joan?  You know that place has been exposed as a neo-Nazi, white supremacist site, yes?  And true to form, the bad guys were black thugs.  I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I would like to see a report from a site that is not so known for its association with just making shit up.

Talk to your Huffington Post and Media Matters people about false news. This is reality, being ignored by every media outlet you endorse and follow.. which is why you were so far off about the November 2016 election, of course... you just would not listen...

If all you want to hear is the false news of liberal leftist Media, the "hands up, don't shoot" liar crowd that sparked and applauded riots, sparking the Trump win by disrespecting most clear thinking people in America, then do so, and lets not believe your prophets of "alt right" and other nonsense about Drudge and Britebart, and other News aggrigator sites who report ALL the news, and allow the citizens to sort out the important from the chaff.

This happened, as you know Lois, I liked that his wife fired on the thugs, who happened to be black as the article says, but thugs nonetheless, and saved her husband, their family and belongings from those animals.  Wish she had been a better shot, and left them to bleed out on the gas station parking lot, but she got accomplished what needed to be accomplished.

Deputy Sheriff hubby with broken jaw, missing teeth, and other injuries felt well enough (adrenalin) to join her in firing at these animals, whatever color they may be, and they left in the stolen vehicle they arrived in... will be caught one day, hopefully by a better shot citizen or law enforcement officer.

   Thank God for concealed carry.

   Thank God for Texas!

Still nothing as bad as making up lies about Hillary Clinton, like she was running a child sex ring in the basement of a pizza parlor.

As for "hands up don't shoot", are you saying no black man has ever been shot by the cops while trying to surrender?  If it is, then you are living in a bubble.  Clear thinking, ha!

As for wishing for people to die, I think this just proves you need to get your meds checked.

Joan, you really need to understand what the difference is between editorials and news. Until you do, you will have a difficult time knowing what is a fact and what is not.

Indeed, have Joan show us where the Huffington post has ever reported anything as false as Muslims in New Jersey cheering the destruction on 9-11, or a video of an airplane supposedly carrying $400 million in cash destined for Iran as ransom.  Both of these stories originated from fake news sites and never happened!

Trump believed both of these stories.  More proof that conservatives suffer from insanity.

Remember what a spreader of fake news said? Right-wingers believe this shit and spread it, while liberals fact check,  That's why such stories never go anywhere on liberal sites.  We don't believe stuff like this without proof.  But the insane and deranged believe it.

Seriously Joan, see a doctor and get some meds.

A few years ago (in New Jersey) a trooper on his own made up a bunch of t-shirts that caused a shit storm (from every direction possible, including the trooper retiring but not before he sold over 5,000 t-shirts).
And I Quote:

They need to build a lot more of these (picture of a cemetery).  On the front.
And a lot less of these (picture of prison).  On the back.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where you can get them anymore.....
Joan would probably wear one.

Love,
Liz

I bet the two year old was tired of getting pushed around by his older brother.  Got the job done, eh Joan?  The best part is that mom will probably go to jail for the crime.  The gun owner was a convicted felon who no doubt obtained the gun through a loophole, supported by the NRA, that allows the purchase of guns without background checks from private parties.

Parents of 9-year-old shot in head by 2-year-old brother arrested; boy on life support

PHOENIX, Arizona — The parents of a nine-year-old boy who is on life support after being shot in the head by his two-year-old sibling at a Phoenix home on Monday, March 20th have been arrested.

Sgt. Vince Lews of the Phoenix Police Department said Wendy Lavarnia, 28, is facing four counts of child abuse “for endangering her children when she placed a gun within their reach, resulting in one child shooting another ….” Her husband, Kansas Lavarnia, 31, is facing one count of prohibited possessor for having the gun in the house.

Earlier reports from investigators were that the child had died, but Lewis said Tuesday morning, March 21st that the little boy “remains on life support and has not yet died.” He also said that the child “is not expected to survive.”

Officers were called to the home in the 3500 block of West Rosewood Avenue around 3 p.m. after reports of gunfire. That’s near 35th Avenue and Cactus Road.

Officers found a young boy with a gunshot wound to the head.

The boy’s mother and three other children were home at the time of the shooting.

Wendy Lavarnia told detectives that she had put the loaded gun on the bed — within reach of two of the children — and then turned around to get the holster. She said she heard a shot and turned back to see her two-year-old holding the gun and her nine-year-old, who had been standing nearby, shot in the head.

Kansas Lavarnia was not home at the time, but arrived later and was questioned by police about the gun. Officers arrested him and booked him on a weapons charge.

Based on Arizona Department of Corrections records, he spent time in prison on convictions of theft and possession of burglary tools from incidents in 2009. He was admitted on Nov. 24, 2009, and released a little more than five years ago in February 2012. As a convicted felon, Kansas Lavarnia is a “prohibited possessor” and thus is not allowed to own or carry a gun.

“I feel sorry, you know what I mean,” said Jason Burns, a neighbor. “It’s gun safety. You need to keep it locked up and you need to educate your kids that this is not a toy.”

It’s not clear if the other three Lavarnia children are staying with family or if they are in the care of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.

People who break the law, including felons who obtain weapons, are not what I consider a 'good guy with a gun', but rather a felon who is breaking the law.

Accidents happen when people are not responsible with how they allow access to anything dangerous around children. Again, nothing to do with the topic of this thread, as you well know.

My reference to 'getting the job done' was in regard to the bank guard who is in need of firearm retraining, taking 4 to 6 shots where one would so, IF he had proper technique.... however, he was able to get the job done, his job done.

Joan you have no idea of what combat entails. S.LA. Marshal did a definitive study of how individuals act in firefights, Men Against Fire", which he documents that aimed fire by individuals is rare. This is also borne out by the experience of Vietnam. Also look at the accounts of police in firefights. Most gunshots are not aimed, but are fire suppression.

I get it Joan, a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun.  If only the 9 year old had been armed he would have been able to stop his stupid 2 year old brother!

Guns in America: For every criminal killed in self-defense, 34 innocent people die

By Christopher Ingraham June 19, 2015
"The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun." says Wayne LaPierre, the vice president of the National Rifle Association.

That's become the kernel of the NRA's response to recent mass shooting tragedies -- if only more people carried guns for protection, the thinking goes, then they would be less likely to be victimized by gun-wielding criminals.

“The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun,” LaPierre said

The challenge to that argument is that, data show, guns are rarely used in self-defense -- especially relative to the rate at which they're used in criminal homicides or suicides. A recent report from the Violence Policy Center, a gun control advocacy group, put those numbers in some perspective, and I dug up the raw numbers from the FBI's homicide data. Take a look:

In 2012, there were 8,855 criminal gun homicides in the FBI's homicide database, but only 258 gun killings by private citizens that were deemed justifiable, which the FBI defines as "the killing of a felon, during the commission of a felony, by a private citizen."

That works out to one justifiable gun death for every 34 unjustifiable gun deaths.

Or, look at it this way. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data shows that in 2012 there were 20,666 suicides by gun. That works out to one self-defense killing for every 78 gun suicides. CDC data show that there were more than twice as many accidental gun fatalities as as justifiable killings.

There are, of course, plenty of solid arguments for robust 2nd Amendment protections. Millions of people use guns for sport and recreation every day. The vast majority of gun owners are responsible citizens, not criminals.

But, though some people certainly use guns for self-defense, the data suggest that overall, guns are used far more often for killing than self-defense. As a result, it may be worth thinking twice about arguments for more guns in schools, churches and other public places.
