On a different note, we have a nesting pair of Red Tailed Hawks on the farm
(which will be nice for rodent and rabbit control).

LOL, that is *not* what I expected from the title!

Cool birds, though.

I've never seen one in the wild, although I did once see six golden eagles at once in the Jura Mountains, all six in the field of view of my bins at once.  Oh, and I went searching for condor in California a couple of years ago, but all I found were turkey vultures.

I love watching the birds take care of their young.  Both the male and female eagles engage in rearing the eaglets.  One or the other stays with the nest most of the time.  As the young get older and require more food, both parents spend more time hunting food, returning to help feed the "kids". 

Nothing like ripping up a dead fish for the young'ns is there Watcher.

lol  Raise my child?  Been there, done that for all three. Now watching the grandchildren and loving almost every minute of it.  Yes, I know. I am an old eagle, not yet bald but every once in a while I still have the urge to get it on..... 8)

Mom needs to get that eaglet back away from the edge of the next.  A couple years ago, we had a little one take a header out of the nest.  No, sadly, he didn't make it.  The other eaglet in the nest got his wing caught and was taken to the Raptor Center in St. Paul.  Had to get him back within 48 hours, or the parents wouldn't take him back.  He was patched up and returned just in time.  It wasn't until the next morning that the parents returned.  Hundreds of us were watching on line pulling for the little guy.
