As I have stated before, I see mostly snark and one-liners on this board, not much intellectual debate. Who is willing to debate and not argue here?

If anyone else is willing, this is what I would expect:

1) Arguments made are supportable by facts.
2) Logical fallacies are excluded.
3) Personal attacks are not accepted. If someone does offer one and is called on it, then they must apologize. Attack the argument, not the arguer.


If anyone is willing to engage in this kind of debate/discussion, please let me know. Others will inject themselves into the threads and offer their sophomoric and puerile comments, I am sure, but I will pledge to abide by these rules with you. If at anytime I fail, I will leave the board and just come back to help people in searching for stories or other non-political boards.

Lets see if anyone is willing to put their claims into action.

Lois, you left one out. Hillary is the one most likely to re-instate Glass–Steagall, which should never have been repealed in the first place. Once Glass–Steagall was in place we didn't have the financial disaster like the mortgage crisis for some 60 years. 8 years after repealing Glass–Steagall we had the Mortgage crisis which was exactly what that legislation was enacted to prevent.

Wrong thread I think, but the Glass Steagall had little or nothing to do with the recession as even Obama admits. Stiglitz admits as much, as does Warren. The main institutions involved in the recession were Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and AIG.... none of which are regulated by the Glass Steagall act or, in particular, the parts that GLT (GLB? Forgot which one), repealed.

That is a separate thread though. This thread is to see who willactually choose to discuss/debate like adults.

And which institutions were purchasing those instruments? Glass-Steagall prohibited that behavior in banks.

Been a few weeks, no takers. Do not be upset when I respond to you the same way that you respond to me. I will start discussions/debates by focusing on the issues and when (not if, seemingly) you guys devolve the debate into personal attacks and vitriol, I will reserve the right to respond in kind.
