That is so horrible 😔

This so tragic, and I'm so sorry for both of you. I truly wish there was to snap her out of this self destruction. My heart goes out to you both  :'(

I survive because the fire inside burn brighter than the fire around me. I am the Phoenix

Fuck dude, that's tough :(

Maybe time to have her, forcibly if necessary, admitted to reset her pain meds and get her a full physical?

Don't ask me.
I'm just as clueless about life as you are.

She’s in the hospital right now. The trouble with being uninsured is they will just stabilize and release her, until the next time she shows up.

Yup, she's 43, but I don't think Medicare kicks in until 65. Maybe Medicaid though?

Yeah Medicare is for the 65 and older crowd. Medicaid is a federally funded state supervised program. It is need-based. Meaning that you have to be at the poverty line to qualify for Medicaid. The problem is, we’re still officially married until the divorce is granted, and my income would completely wipe out her hope for being eligible. I’m gonna tell her we need to go ahead and finalize the divorce so she can get Medicaid, and possibly Social Security disability. She’s only worked three years in America, and I think you need to work five to qualify for SSD.

Well they’re keeping her in the hospital until Monday. And they’re going to do a biopsy. So that could mean cancer. She doesn’t understand anything the doctors tell her. And she can’t explain to me what’s going on. But she has had her third dialysis now, and is feeling a little more human.

What’s ruined my day is this SCOTUS decision, which basically announces a war on substantive due process. And that’s what gave us a right to procreative choice, contraception, same-sex and interracial relationships, and same-sex  and interracial marriage. So all of that is back on the table. Nothing is guaranteed anymore. I literally feel nauseated. I left work early, and I’m at home, dry heaving.

I think some people have not even realized that yet  :'(

What ruined my day:  the Supreme Court decision
What made my day:  'M' organizing a group of 10 girls to go downtown Detroit to a rally protesting the decision.
Wish I could have gone, but had 'A' to look after.  The heat would have been a little rough to take her along.

Appreciate it. And my “go fuck yourself” comment was said with affection. It’s a Texas thing. Today was so tough with everything going on, I had to drop a nitro pill for chest pain around 4 pm. I was one of two people in the office all day, and seemed like bad news hit every 15 minutes.  Feeling better now. I’m going to drive down and check on her tomorrow.

I did not take it as an insult, you sir, have my fondest respect. I just really do not like being called a hillbilly. I only vented because everyone in my office lost there ever loving minds today because apparently Big Boss wants everyone to account for their time, since meetings are becoming populated by ill prepared people. It is not like meetings are a surprise things, there is a posted schedule, so there is plenty of time to prepare, so we don't look like asshats to new clients. And of course I got my ass chewed, not badly, because its my second day in power, and I can't even get a decent cup of coffee without an intern acting like I am a T-Rex about to eat them. I cleaned more coffee off of my floor today, than actually doing my job. Like I said, its one of those landmine topics, and I hold no grudges, because I respect all opinions, even if I do not subscribe to them. Besides, you are cool as all fuck to me, man. Much Respect.

*edit* I was not being sarcastic when I asked your opinion on what RBG said, because I read the article I posted, and she predicted this very thing happening when she was nominated by Clinton in the 90's So no worries man, I honestly wanted your opinion, because I know you, as a lawyer can hold a good debate/ argument. No disrespect.

Buy her some flowers for me. You also sound like you need a stiff drink. I suggest Arrogant Bastard Ale, and a good record to listen to.

What ruined my day:  the Supreme Court decision

I lived in the States long enough to pick up a social security number and a driving licence, but not long enough to understand the intricacies of the state/federal legal system.

The Supreme Court decision was telegraphed a few weeks ago, so it shouldn't have come as a shock, but it did. I feel truly, truly sorry for the women it will affect. Actually, I'm becoming a little emotional as I type this. I'd better stop before I choke up.

Call me a relic, call me what you will,
Say I'm old-fashioned, say I'm over the hill.
