Very much so, something tells me the thread title won't draw in many views, sorry Pink but I'm not sure you've recorded something of this exceptional quality just yet.

There are many great artists that have used Pink as their moniker.  This thread is for the celebration of all Pink!

Pink may not have recorded "something of exceptional quality just" yet, but she has a great voice, and she spans many genres. Listen to songs others than the handful you hear on pop music outlets, and you'll see.

Plus, I love her "fuck you if you don't like it" attitude. And she's certainly nice to look at:

"Sometimes the best things in life are a hot girl and a cold beer."

I'm not discounting Pink at all. I'm very familiar with her discography. I'm not one to just listen to promoted songs. I was surprised to see Pink Floyd under the thread titled Pink.

Hey Wubble, are you one of those that just says "The Floyd"?

And yes, I love Pink, too.  Her songs are incredibly relevant.

And she can even full folks into believing she was a student of Odetta with her vocal range.  Here she is out-crooning Janis Joplin.  This tape gives me braingasms!

A song written about Pink Floyd's original creative lead Syd Barrett.  Syd is thought to have a mental illness that led him to take daily doses of LSD to self-medicate.  It burned out his brain.

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue sky's from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
And how we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

As much as I would love a thread where I can make posts regarding Pink Floyd, to have Pink even mentioned in the same thread to me is Sacrilege.

Nothing against Pink but it is just WRONG!!

My hermit lifestyle closes me off from so much pop culture, so looking at this thread has been my first clue as to the existence of the artist Pink. It's a good thing I joined KB, so I can occasionally put my thumb on the pulse of the younger generation. I really like Pink's voice. It has a nice quality of penetration to my ear, smooth, easy, nice ring to it. Having a voice with bell tones in it is a great gift for a singer. Plus I like the way she channels Janis, who came from and left for a better world.

Pink was only ever mentioned in the first instance because the original thread title was just Pink.

In response to Lois. ...no I'm not one of those that refer's to Pink Floyd as The Floyd and personally know no one that does.

I used to have two copies of this poster, both long gone, but it often appears in published collections of notable poster art.

I went to see Pink Floyd on Sept. 27 and was astounded to find the hall (more like a large loft) only one-third full. This was in 1967, and Pink Floyd were already a big draw. I spotted a glum-looking guy standing in the middle of the empty two-thirds of the hall, and went over to chat with him.

It turned out that he was the owner of the club, and had paid something like £400 for Pink Floyd's one-hour gig. No wonder he looked miserable.

I tried to cheer him up by saying that I loved his poster. He looked even more miserable, and said that he'd lost a lot of money on that too. "Would you like one? Or two? Or three? I have plenty in the back of my car."

I told him that two would be fine, and that's what I got. You can barely make it out at the bottom-left of the poster, but it was designed by an outfit called Hapshash and the Coloured Coat, who were one of the biggest names in graphic design at that time. What's more, the posters were silk-screened with vibrant inks, adding to the cost.

There may have been only a few dozen people at that gig, but it was something of a historical event. When the band got up on the low podium and plugged in their instruments, Syd Barrett looked decidely odd, staring off into space and occasionally remembering to strum his guitar half-heartedly. I think everyone present realized something was seriously wrong with him.

Two months later I went to see Pink Floyd in London, and discovered that Syd had been replaced by an outrageously handsome young man wearing fashionable red boots. That was David Gilmour. So I got to see just about the last gig that Syd ever played, and the first with David.

Happy Hippie Hilda

The last time I saw Pink Floyd live was in Hyde Park on 29 June 1968. I recall the idyllic weather and the near-perfect acoustics of the sound system. What I don't recall is the set list.

So I went over to setlist.fm and discovered that PF played Let There Be More Light, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, A Saucerful of Secrets, and Interstellar Overdrive, all dating back to the group's early days. What's strange is that I associate PF's gentle, lyrical sound with much later albums.

Even stranger is PF sharing the bill with Jethro Tull, Roy Harper, and T. Rex. Strange because although I saw Roy in concert at least twice, and the original Tyrannosaurus Rex any number of times (even rubbed shoulders with Marc Bolan), I don't recall them performing with PF in Hyde Park. And until I saw the line-up, I could have sworn I'd never seen Jethro Tull live.

If you take a look at the photo of Roy Harper halfway down this page, one of those tiny dots would be me:

I was there. The title "Games for May" is referenced in Pink Floyd's second single, "See Emily Play".
