I prefer Sheryl crows version of first cut. Just my personal opinion.

Good one. Yes, she evokes a much stronger emotional response. It’s on my “breakup songs” playlist.

Rod Stewart's cover is also very good.

As is this reggae cover:

And while the video and audio quality suck, this cover by Linda Rondstadt is excellent:

"Sometimes the best things in life are a hot girl and a cold beer."

Couple of UK-centric ones, but someone may recognise them.

It Must Be Love

Cover: Madness

Original: Labi Siffre (he's in the Madness video, playing the violin.)

Red Red Wine

Cover: UB40

Original: Neil Diamond (he even says himself that UB40's reggae-inspired take captures the song much better)

Not going through this entire list, but here are a few classics that a lot of people do not realize are covers:

(I'm just listing the more well known cover. The link will be to the original version.)

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - I Love Rock N Roll is a cover. The original?
Huey Lewis and the News - Heart & Soul. The original?

Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. The original? (Warning: Kind of creepy)
And finally:

Soft Cell - Tainted Love. The original? (For the record, I like Marilyn Manson's cover better.)

As extra bit of trivia, Joan Jett, Billy Idol and Tiffany all covered songs by Tommy James and the Shondells (Crimson and Clover, Mony Mony, and I Think We're Alone Now) and two of those were parodied by Weird Al! (As Alimony and I Think I'm A Clone Now.)
