Websites are fragile, often temporary things, especially if their content is something that other people might complain about (ie porn & erotica), or if the site is aging and run by volunteers.

My personal recommendation is, if you find a story or image you particularly enjoy, to save it in your own space, either on your own device or in a cloud service (ideal if you use several devices, or if other people use your devices and you don't want them to see what you save).

If you make a gmail account, you get access to google documents to save stories.  I also have an Imgur account to save photos (it holds a lot more than I post here).

Down again.  Has been for several days.  Is this the final bell?

I noticed there was a registration change with the site name on November 9.  Wonder if someone grabbed it?  Thirty years of homemade porn.

I'm getting a DNS error (like the server is moving to a new IP address, or it's just flat *gone*)

Here's one of the last archived copies:

The SEARCH won't work on Archive.org, but if you know what you're looking for, it's OK.

The bolded items indicate there is something going on in the background. The item that is really "bad" is the clientHold which is defined by --

This status code tells your domain's registry to not activate your domain in the DNS and as a consequence, it will not resolve. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, non-payment, or when your domain is subject to deletion.

So, the only thing we "consumers" can do is sit back and hope it gets resolved. A full list of these status codes is available at https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/epp-status-codes-2014-06-16-en

I just noticed the update on the 9th of November, so something is definitely underfoot, whether intentional or not.  I took it that someone has intentionally pulled the site down.

It would not surprise me if the server itself is still running. But with no DNS record, nobody can find it. Stand by. We shall see what comes of this.

It is definitely up and running and should be responding properly now. From what I read elsewhere, apparently Google did something that took down the DNS entries and today they fixed them.

I think there was more involved than just Google working on their system. If that were the case, one would expect way more domains to have been affected. Because registered domains get published to root servers (there are 13 root servers), maintenance to the registrar's system should not cause any kind of disruption. My gut is telling me that the domain owner had not paid the necessary renewal fees on time or something similar.

Not working on their system. According to one of the ASSTR admins, it was something Google did specifically to them with no reason given. Then after they got complaints, they fixed it, again not giving any reason of doing so in the first place. I will look for more posts today.
