Not the avatar, but the user name I have here first made it's appearance at Lois' RavishU.  Before I used it 8 or 9 years ago, I googled it: zero hits.  Cool, I'm unique!  NOW there are thousands of hits, and most of 'em aren't me.  There's even a rope rigger in Europe? (somewhere) that's stolen it.  That's confusing as shit, since I'm a rope top myself.  Dude, WTF??

I suppose I should be modestly proud at all the plagiarism, but why do these folks want to be ME??   :emot_weird:

I chose Hades a long time ago... I use it on several boards.
I love the night time.  I love(d) seclusion.  And for a good number of (my more depressed) years I totally lived at night.
Complimentary high school "classical languages" got me mildly interested in greek mythology, and Hades is the one greek god that is generally frowned upon/shunned by both humans and gods alike.  Which suits me fine.
Add to that my open (yet non-preaching) atheism and well... you get my alter-ego "Hades".
The avatar is just a picture (a listing of a bronze on e-bay) I found googling "Hades"

Not long after I joined the first site I had found, I also discovered all these monster porn pics.  Without a whole lot of thought, I chose one to upload.  I've never been very technically savvy, so I recall struggling to figure that out.  That was on RU.

The really funny thing, RU went down for a couple days soon after.  When I couldn't get on, I actually thought my avatar had gotten me banned....LOL

I've used it for a few sites now and never had any other.  I even wrote a story about the demon and girl that is very dark and not yet complete.

When I came here my usual lack of technical competence had me struggling to upload it again.  Then this nice girl Jules did it for me.  This place has a real treasure in her.

I had just started learning the site and wasn't a fan of keeping Gwen Stefani as my avatar, if it was amy lee I'd be fine with it.  Anyways I decided to change it.  Was going to take a picture of the moon outside my window, but when I brought up my camera I saw my legs and socks and thought, well that would make a cute picture.

After 4 years as Liza I decided it was time for a change.

I wore a cowboy hat often in my 20's and loved it so I thought I would go with something like that.  I googled "lady cowgirl" or lady sheriff".   I was drawn to the ones where the face was hidden by the hat.  This and the couple on my profile (posted below) is what I came up with.  I might switch between the three at times.

There's no real story behind my avatar. It just got boring having nothing there. So I got on OpenOffice, and whipped it up in thirty seconds, based on the usual contraction of my username.

He's cute.  I love Teddy Bears.  I had many over the years.  In fact I still have one, though he ended up in the closet sitting on the shelf with some of my hats when Dan moved in.  I never had a pink one.


And I should probably update why I chose my avatar.   Shiela posted it in "Pics that remind me of MintJulie".  I love silhouette pictures, and with the colors, the hat, and the 'glow' coming from down yonder, I immediately went to work downsizing and cropping it for my avatar.  So long Liza Liza Minnelli.





And as a side note:  I think we determined 98 px wide is max to prevent a scrollbar.  I'll update this if wrong.
