Warner Brothers and Sony have grown weary of the business climate of California and will be relocating to Nevada, in or near Las Vegas. Warner Bros is a bigger studio and has a higher volume of film and TV production. Sony, on the other hand, is proposing a larger commercial development with retail and hotels.

State reps are preparing a bill to give subsidies to one or both studios for the relocation. Taxpayers are already weary of this kind of corporate welfate, having shelled out 750 million to relocate the NFL Raiders to Las Vegas.

Nevada already offers 10 million  a year in incentives for film production in the state, not much, compared to Arizona, which offers 125 million a year and New Mexico offers 120 million.

The afore mentioned bill is in jeopardy as 380 million has already been doled out to build a baseball stadium for the A's on the Vegas strip. The Nevada legislature meets every two years and is slated to meet again in January.

The Nevade legislature meets only every two years?  Strange.

Corporate welfare is not that bad if it comes with strings attached that makes corporations repay the state if they move, cut back or otherwise break the original contract.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.

.

The Texas Legislature only meets once every two years and has 145 days to conclude ALL of their business. They can be called in for special sessions and sometimes that happens. The legislators all have full time jobs and a number of them own businesses,
