I'm sure that loss to Man City isn't going to help their form.

The De Bruyne and Haaland partnership looked astounding last night.  I cry every time I remember Chelsea* let both De Bruyne and Salah slip through their hands as young players.  Looking forward to the ManC v RM match.

* and another dismal performance last night.

I don’t think we have ever seen KDB and Haaland work that well together before! It seems like the entire club are peaking at just the right moment, we certainly did not see this type of performance in January or earlier in the fall! As a supporter, I’ve been frustrated watching them play for most of this season, you see the potential and it’s easy to get disappointed by the results at times. Besides KDB and Haaland, Grealish is finally living up to the billing, along with a few others who have improved as the season has progressed - Ake, Akanji, Alvarez, Stones come to mind. Hoping we can perform well versus RM in the Champions League!

Ake - another Chelsea hopeful that they let others develop his potential.

Thank you Tottenham for taking points from Man Utd 😁

Interesting how Arsenal, Man City, and even Newcastle have the same number of losses. The big difference is in the draws. Arsenal can't defend, and though they've had some nice scoring lately, NUFC have the lowest goal count of the three.

City are the best all around, with the most goals in the league and the second best defensive effort.

Decent result today, Real Madrid - City, 1-1. City controlled the game for much of the first half but RM knows how to succeed, their ability to score on quick counter strikes continues to amaze me. I feel good about our chances at home next week but you can never count on anything at this stage, can you?

Crazy scores last monday.  Three games averaging 7 goals a game.  Well done ManC for a draw in the Bernabeu, looking forward to the home game.

I don’t know if any of you were able to watch the Champions League Semifinal yesterday but if you did, you saw City at their best. I’ve seen them dominate lesser opponents before but to see what they did against a historic Champions League power like RM and with a CL Final at stake, well…it was incredible to witness. It was a total team effort, something you don’t often see with the bigger clubs and their collection of high priced stars. The tactics, the depth, the teamwork and the desire to win was something special, in my biased opinion. You are welcome to hate all you want, but honestly that was nothing but pure joy for me to experience yesterday.

It was really something to see, especially as a City fan. We’ve never won the CL Final and it would be an amazing achievement if this is our year!

I came on here expecting a little USWNT talk.  Anybody get a chance to watch?

I am enjoying the matches. A few new countries are in their first cup series and it fun to watch. Vietnam for one and they put in a great effort  against a better squad.

The time difference makes watching matches live very challenging. Most matches air here at 1:00 am and 3:00 am.

The USMNT's first match aired at 9:00 pm here (it was 1:00 pm in New Zealand), and it was a very exciting match. It didn't look like it on paper (the U.S. is ranked #1 and Vietnam #32), but Vietnam played with 3 central defenders and 2 sweepers -- creating a 5-player back line -- and the midfielders and forwards played back, creating two 5-player lines. That stymied the U.S. players for most of the match, and the Vietnamese GK played the game of a lifetime. The U.S. took 28 shots, including 7 on target, but "only" won 3-0.

There are a lot of young players on the USWNT roster -- 6 of the 11 starters in that match were playing their first World Cup match -- and the changing of the guard makes it fun to watch these new players.

The real test will come on Wednesday, when they face the Netherlands (whom they beat in the final four years ago). There were times in the Vietnam match where they looked a bit sluggish and unable to penetrate Vietnam's stifling defense.

Sad to hear of the death of Trevor Francis from a heart attack at the age of 69.  He became the first £1M player when he transferred from Birmingham City to Nottingham Forest and scored their winning goal in the 1979 European Cup Final.  Played for England 52 times, scoring 12 goals.
