There is no one at the club (apart from fans) who remember Winston Bogarde.  The long contracts are a ruse to get round the Financial Fair Play rules and restrictions.

I realise that. Longer contracts with (slightly) reduced wages. The problem is the EPL wages are so high, if 10% of Chelsea's players doesn't work out, they can't move them on. Outside of the Saudi's no other league is paying those wages.

I honestly think Boehly will ruin Chelsea

That's the worry of many fans, including me.

Spurs now currently clear by 5 points (for the next couple of hours). I can only deduce Kane was holding you back  ;D

Everton has been deducted 10 point for a FFP infraction.

Please bear in mind that's for a single offence. With Man City accused of over a 115,  I'm intrigued to see how many goals Haaland will score in the Vanarama

What a difference a couple of weeks make!

Chelsea certainly manhandled Spurs, and the last minute loss to Wolves last week pushed them down to 4th. While they're only two points shy of City et al., Maddison's injury will make things only harder.

Plus the play Aston Villa, who are only one point behind them, next weekend, and it's City again after that.

P.S. The whole "this weekend" vs. "next weekend" debate raises it's head again. For me (a Midwesterner), "next weekend" refers to the weekend of 11/25-11/26, but to someone here in NYC, "next weekend" refers to the weekend of 11/18-11/19. I would refer to the weekend that begins tomorrow "this weekend."

I know some people in the U.K. say "Saturday next." Plus, you guys have the cool "fortnite" thing, which is pretty cool.

Both Spurs v Chelsea (Spurs committing the nearest thing to football suicide I have ever seen) and Chelsea v ManC were crazy games.

On the subject of points deductions for financial irregularities, the initial estimate for Everton was 12 points. Chelsea could be hit for a lot if the rumours are true.

For me it depends how far through the week you are when next weekend becomes this weekend.  Mrs Obi and I have many heated debates about it  ;D

MissB has released my inner pedant. We say fortnight, and the french have adopted le fortnight, fortnite is a computer game.  I didn't know it wasn't used in the USA and I believe it comes from an old medieval word for fourteen nights as does the now unused sennight to mean a week (seven nights).
