CT and Obi -

Though France won the match, there were some very questionable non calls against France, at least one in the 18 yr box. Unfortunately,  England's Kane missing his second PK didn't help.

I'm just happy that I don't like to bet. This World Cup would've cost me a lot of money already.  :emot_laughing:

I'm guessing Argentina versus France in the final, but with everything that's happened so far, I guess even Croatia versus Morocco wouldn't be THAT impossible  ;D

I would like to see Messi playing for the championship in his final World Cup. Then come to the U.S. and play for Inter-Miami of the MSL. Croatia and Morocco, though, play tough defense. England pretty much shut down Mbappe of France, so I expect Morocco to do the same. Can they also shut down Giroud?

Apparently this Croatia fan was jumping up and down behind the goal when Japan and Brazil were taking their penalties  ;D

Looked like Argentina kicked their playing up a few notches in their 3 - 0 win over Croatia. Messi put on a clinic.

Looks like my predictions were right for once, but my hope for a first-time winner went out the window

Also, Jack Wilshere says that if Southgate steps down as England manager, the FA should try their best to get Eddie Howe from Newcastle. ...and to that I say, Fuck off, Jack Wilshere; Howe would be horrible, horrible for England because.. uh... because of reasons, and the FA should just leave him alone at NUFC  :emot_laughing: :emot_laughing: :emot_laughing:

Didn't like their very unsporting reaction towards the Netherlands though. Messi reportedly very un-gentlemanly.

 ;D

Part of the Chelsea lunatic fringe already want the FA to call up Graham Potter.

Personally,  I think the game is getting too physical. That, and the constant attempts to make a foul seem worse than it is, takes away from the game.

I think Argentina's excuse was that Van Gaal supposedly said the Netherlands would have the advantage if the match went to penalties, as well as that Dutch players were trying to intimidate the Argentine players that were about to go up and take their penalty. Then again, from what I understand, Argentinian players were already shouting at the Dutch bench during the middle of the match, well before the penalty kicks.

And at one stage an Argentinian player hammered the ball into the Dutch bench.  :o

Towards the end of the Morocco - France match, the Moroccans were literally running over the French players. Very few yellow cards given.

Speaking of physical play, I think there are far fewer "hard men" around these days than especially the 70s and 80s. I know plenty think they added character to football and wish there were a few more "hard men" playing these days, but to be honest, when you look at the highlights of some of those players, some had very little skill when it came to tackling or winning the ball and were just straight up butchers that tried to scare the opponents into giving up the ball  :o

Jack Charlton once said "I'm not very good at playing football but I am very good at stopping other people play football".

Ron Harris also said that if they used today's rules in the 60s and 70s he would have got sent off during the warm up.  ;D

More recent hard men that spring to mind and could go toe to toe with those two are Sergio Ramos, Antonio Rudiger and Pepe (Portugal)

Ah, yes.  How could I forget Vinny and especially his grab for Gazza's testicles.
