I spent the first 70 minutes wondering where the French were, then they finally turned up. Pretty good game overall.  Those Argentinians certanly know how to celebrate

I guess I've been a little out of the loop regarding Italian football. I saw a picture of Sinisa Mihajlovic a few months ago, and thought he wasn't looking so great, but I never followed up if he was having any health issues. Turns out, he had been fighting leukemia the last few years, and he passed away on Friday  :'(

He had become a manager since his retirement as a player, but I remember him mostly for being a defender for Sampdoria, Lazio, and Inter, who could score some great free kicks.

Saudi Sandcastle United are leading Leicester 3-0 at the half, elevating them into second place on the table  :o

(I'll conveniently ignore the fact that Man City is currently two matches behind and doesn't play until Wednesay lol)

Given their resources now, you can safely say most of these players will be gone in a couple of years. Howe has done amazing work.

When it was made official that Cristiano Ronaldo would play in Saudi Arabia, I jokingly thought, 'He could've just signed for Newcastle, if he was so hot for some Saudi money.' I also thought that, in reality, I wouldn't want him near the club, because things are going to well for Newcastle right now, and Ronaldo would just be a distraction.

So I had to laugh when there's no a rumor - I haven't seen it confirmed officially yet - Ronaldo has a clause in his contract, that would enable him to move to Newcastle United on loan, if they qualify for the next season's Champions League campaign LMAO

I really hope it's only a rumor...

Also, holy shit at the Berhalter-Reyna drama.

Then again, anything involving the USMNT feels like some sort of weird incestuous relationship involving players from the late 90s and early 00s. There's nothing professional about the Reynas expecting Gio to receive playing time from Berhalter, just because they had been friends with the Berhalters for decades,(Claudio and Gregg played on the same team when they were kids, Danielle and Rosalind were best friends in college), or for them to expect Brian McBride (general manager) and Earnie Stewart (sporting director) to step in and do something about Gregg Berhalter just because the Reynas were friends with them as well.

The sad loss of two great players in quick succession, first Pele and now Gianluca Vialli, who was only 58 and suffered from pancreatic cancer.

Definitely didn't expect that Manchester derby result  :o

...but what's weirder is Gary Neville thinking that City will win the title anyway and United will finish second  :emot_laughing:

Watcher as you well know, I’m a proud supporter of Manchester City! I tip my hat to you, even though we both know that equalizing goal last weekend was rubbish!  United are on the upswing lately but we will figure things out soon enough! Can Arsenal maintain the pace?! It’s going to be an interesting second half of the season! Enjoy, my friend!

I think City will close the gap to Arsenal. There will always be a wobble at some point in the season - but I think Arsenal is mentally much stronger than a couple of years ago.

I just hope Southampton can wake up from their slumber and somehow survive

I have a few friends and a coworker who are all Arsenal fans, they don’t seem confident that they can keep pace. Normally, I would agree about City but it feels different this time. Transitioning from a false nine system to a true striker takes time and some of our older players are starting to slow down. I think we are more in transition than people may realize, this might not be our year! Rick is a big United fan so we like to go back and forth with each other. He hasn’t had much to say until lately! Good luck to your Southampton, they knocked us out if the EFL Cup!

Interesting article in this week's Sunday Times postulating that Haaland has adversely affected City until they get used to playing with a real No. 9.

That is my theory, I believe it’s a bigger adjustment than most people realize - supporters, pundits, etc. it’s been a long time since we okayed with Argüero healthy! It’s typical for established players to take as much as a year to adjust to playing under Pep’s style, combine that with learning how to feed a true striker - I think it’s going to take some time! Talent alone will keep us in good shape on the table but to win the PL with strong competition is going to be very difficult! I think it’s already too late!

Fascinating post match interview by Pep, calling out the desire of the players and even the support of the home fans. Too complacent and not enough desire, not good enough! Love Pep, I hope he never leaves the club! He demands excellence from everyone associated with the club, what more could you want as a supporter?
