As someone who believes in giving credit where it is due. props (at least temporarily) to ODK:

What's interesting to me is that four weeks ago, the top spots on the table were up for grabs, and the big six had given way to several other teams (Southampton, Leicester, Wolverhampton Everton, even Aston Villa). Four weeks later, five of the top six spots are occupied by five of the big six teams.

Watched the ManU match. ManU played poorly the first half then made a couple of substitutions for the second half and scored three goals to win, I think, their fifth away game in a row, coming from behind in all their road wins.

I think the order at the top of the Premier League may have changed in MissB's favour in the last hour or so.  :(

Good to see that the Leeds v Chelsea game was played at full speed though (and Pulisic scored). The 2000 fans that are now allowed in stadiums made more noise than I expected.

Good to see an American born player doing good in the toughest league in the world.

Great player, but we are worried he might be injury prone, aka "a sicknote"

I think we may be seeing the restoration of the big money status quo.  The one big six team missing is your perennial rivals, Arsenal, who you consigned to 15th place today as their run of bad performances continues.

Indeed.

And unless Liverpool score five goals in the next three minutes, we'll remain there for at least six more days...

RIP the great Paolo Rossi at the relatively young age of 64. Hero of Italy's World Cup win of 1982 and one of only three players to have won the World Cup, the Golden Boot and best player in a single tournament.  Also in 1982 he was voted Europe's best player.

I remember that tournament because there was discussion about UK teams participating because of the Falklands War and possible contact with the Argentinian team. And because England were eliminated without losing a game!

I remember Rossi. Italy had a good team then. AC Milan and Juventus were powerhouses.  Sad to hear he died.

There were a lot of draws this weekend, and Southampton leapt up to third on the table, only two points out of first.

"But MissBarbara, you DO realize that we all have phones, and we can check the results ourselves without your having to post them here."

Yes, I'm aware, but I'm only trying to be helpful.

"But MissBarbara, you're only posting it so you can brag about the fact that your team tops the table for another week!"

Maybe.

Should be a tasty game when Spurs are at Liverpool tomorrow. Liverpool should be more adventurous than Chelsea were when Spurs visited Stamford Bridge.

Exactly.

Given the congestion at the top of the table, it's possible that by the end of the day tomorrow, Spurs could be in 5th place.

Chelsea's back line fell asleep at the end of the game and allowed Neto to sprint past them and score the winning goal.

At the risk of sounding like Pollyanna, the upside is that Chelsea are still only three points out of first place.

Unfortunately, I have a Zoom conference this afternoon that almost completely overlaps with the Liverpool v. Spurs match, but my phone will be sitting right next to my laptop...

A question to my soccer friends - Do you think that with more matches being played by the players every year, should the leagues increase the number of substitutions?  Maybe by one or two at the most.

That is being hotly debated amongst the UK managers at the moment, watcher.  More substitutes benefits teams with more money because they have the greater depth of squads.  Two extra substitutes is what is being requested, and is allowed in UEFA games.

That's unlucky.

As I write most other teams have at least one game in hand over Chelsea and with a tough game against West Ham this weekend we could be slipping down the league.

Breaking news - West Brom fire manager Slaven Bilic and hire Sam Allardyce and his assistant Sammy Lee.  Big Sam and Little Sam back in the Premier League.
