Did you see THE game, MissB?

Who were the team Chelsea were playing in the first half.  It certainly didn't look like Spurs to me. The fan base will be getting on Mourinho's back, despite them still being 7th with games in hand.

Obi
KTBFFH

Alas, I did not. I was doing an online class at the time, and even if I wasn't, it was available only on a streaming service I don't subscribe to (Peacock Network).

I would be happy for your win if it were against anyone else. Sadly, Spurs have dropped from 1st to 8th, and they're only thee points above 11th place. Yes. I console myself with the games in hand. the 17 matches yet to be played, and the fact that the way teams have bounced up and down the table this season, it's anyone's to take.

COYS!

And you are in the EFL cup final as well as the Europa League.  I can't understand why Mourinho did not put Bale on, especially as before the match he was talking about the lack of attacking players due to injuries.

And don't forget the FA Cup. Spurs play Everton in a round of 16 match next week!

Even after watching all 10 episodes of that Spurs series you recommended, I still don't get Mourinho's strategy vis a vis Bale. I get that he's a loan player and not necessarily a starter, but with Bale on the right and Son on the left, that's an effective attacking strategy, even when Kane is out. Mourinho seems to like Bergwijn, but he doesn't seem to have a plan for players like Lucas, Alli, Lamela, et al.

I agree about the Son Bale pairing.  I also think Levy regarded Bale as a marquee signing but Mourinho has always taken umbrage when he thinks players are being foisted on him.

Obi, since I am laid up I have the chance to watch a lot of soccer. Even watched the  women's EP league, I  guess they call it. I  see Chelsea is on top of the league.

In the men's EP league, though, looks like Man City could be the team to beat . The last I heard, they were 7 points in front of ManU.

What has happened to Liverpool? I watched two matches they were in and they lost both after being ahead. Their keeper seems to lose focus in the second half.

Hello Watcher, I hope the recuperation is coming along well.

Chelsea ladies have a very strong team,  recently lost their first game in eons.

Man. City have become very strong after an inauspicious start to this turbulent season.  An article in today's Sunday Times has Guardiola praising his assistant, Juanma Lillo (no, me neither), as the real tactician behind the throne.

Pool and Spurs (sorry MissB, no not really  ;D) have fallen off a cliff are leading the league. Pool just got beaten by Everton at Anfield for the first time in 22 years and have now lost four games in a row at home, this is the first time for nearly 100 years. Oh, how my heart ached for them!  West Ham are showing a surprising run of form and are now in fourth position after today's games.

The lack of fans inside grounds is certainly causing a lot of away wins this season.

Yes, ManCity is on a roll. Undefeated in 18 straight games.  Ten points ahead of second place ManU.

Back home, the US Women's national team beat Brazil to win that tournament.  They look really good.

Man City lost to Spurs 2-0 on November 20, 2020. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I watched the USWNT match yesterday, and while they looked good, they didn't look great. Until that late goal from Megan Rapinoe in the 88th minute, Brazil looked like they could equalize at several moments during the second half.

(And that fluttering sound you just heard was my heart's reaction when I typed the words "Megan Rapinoe.")

I was surprised at how negative Atletico were.  NOT surprised at Suarez's dirty tricks.

I heard a fluttering sound last night when Megan Rapinoe  scored the first goal for the U S Women's team as they routed Argentina  6 - 0 to g place first in the tournament and win the cup.  She also scored a second goal before being replaced in the 61st minute. The team played very well in the first half and was a little sloppy in the second half but still scored two goals. I don't think Argentina even had a shot on goal the entire goal.

Way to go U.S. Women's team.

Just finished watching the ManCity match and can see why they are far ahead in points over second place ManU.    ManCity has not lost a match this year. They are quick and pass the ball exceptionally well. Their defense is very good also. Hard to see any other team win enough games to over take ManCity.

Obi - what did you think of the Chelsea and ManU match that ended in  0 - 0 ? I wasn't  impressed with how either team played.

ManCity on a roll. Doubt any team will catch up to them now.

Yes, it certainly seems that way. They're currently 15 points in front with 11 matches yet to play.

What's more interesting is the fact that teams #2 - #10 are separated by only 13 points. It will be a lot of fun during upcoming three months to see which teams capture the Champions League spots.

Speaking of the Champions League, City should cruise to the quarterfinals.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Thursday. I am going with Chelsea.  8)

MissB.  Yes, the remaining games for those ranked 2nd through 10th will be very important for those teams. We should see some good matches.

Yea of little faith. ;D. Chelsea's defense in the second half made Liverpool lose at home for the fifth straight match. Lots of poor passing by both teams though.  Big match Sunday - ManCity vs ManU.
