Somehow I had never seen this before, the 1974 interview with Brian Clough and Don Revie


ODK probably knows all about it, but basically Don Revie had left Leeds United to manage England, and Brian Clough had taken over the Leeds job before getting the sack just seven weeks in. A major part of the problem was that Clough is said to have alienated the Leeds squad, after telling them to throw away all the medals they won under Revie, because he believed they hadn't been won fairly.

I guess it all worked out for Clough at the end; after getting sacked by Leeds, he took on his most famous and successful job, at Nottingham Forest  ;D

I certainly remember it. Revie didn’t last long as England manager and is reviled for breaking his contract after being seduced by the Saudi dollar. For those interested in Clough I can recommend the books “Provided You Don’t Kiss Me: 20 Years With Brian Clough” and “The Damned United”. The latter was made into a film with Michael Sheen giving a brilliant performance as Clough and Stephen Graham (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood) a hilarious one as a bewigged  Billy Bremmer.

I read this morning that Chelsea is looking to sign Ronaldo.

Have you heard anything about this over there in the U.K. The article made it sound like it is more than just another transfer rumor, and in the big picture, it makes since, since Chelsea will be playing in the Champions League, and Man U will not.

The three big targets I've heard mentioned repeatedly are Bayern, Chelsea, and PSG.

Oliver Kahn at Bayern already said that they're not going to sign him. I don't think PSG mentioned anything officially yet, but unless they'll try to go for a total marketing stunt of having him and Messi on the same team for a season, I can't see them wanting to try to continue their failed version of the Galacticos.

So Chelsea seems the most likely destination, though the question is would it be more for Boehly or for Tuchel?

Sorry for the tardy reply. annoyingly real life has interferred with KB activity  ;D

Just a rumour.  We have bought Sterling though, not sure we should be buying admittedly good players after the peak of their career.  Looks like we could be buying back yet another player we let go in Ake.

Chelsea did purchase the young keeper of the Chicago Fire and will probably loan him out to a lower division team to gain experience and playing time. He is from the Chicago area and I think he is only 18 years old.  He has the Fire still in the playoff picture and will report to Chelsea after the MLS season is over.
