God tier shitposting on Twitter

President Biden posted a tweet earlier today, where he said in a video, "It's called soccer. Go USA! You guys are going to do it!"

Mark Rutte, the prime minister of the Netherlands, retweeted that after the match and said, "Sorry Joe, football won."

I watched the match in a local pub that was packed with people (including several Dutch fans decked in Orange). I got there around 9:30 am and ordered my first beer.

That's a record for me.

If Pulisic had taken that chance on 2 minutes the Netherlands wouldn't have been able to play their counter-attacking game so easily.

According to my sunday paper Pele is not in palliative care (this was an errorr on the part of a Brazilian news feed) although he is in hospital and in a stable condition.

This should end the GOAT debate Pele doing everything your favourite player does, first.

Pele always looked on football as a chess game, knowing where players will be two or three passes away.

Well, that's Australia, USA, Senegal and Poland out.

England v France in one of the quarter finals. It doesn't always play out as anticipated (remember Germany's 7-1 v Brazil?  :emot_laughing:), but it has the makings of a cracker.

Netherlands v Argentina too - Denis Bergkamp!!!!

I agree, Colin. Two good matches. Can England stop Mbappe?

Morocco wins over Spain, in penalty kicks.

Morata, De Bruyne and (best of all) Suarez all reduced to tears. Come on Switzerland we want to see Ronaldo cry as well.

I was just thinking the same thing. I'd love to see Switzerland win 2-0 or 3-0, sending Ronaldo home with his single goal.

Portugal coach Fernando Santos dropped Cristiano Ronaldo and was rewarded with a hat-trick from replacement Goncalo Ramos as his side put Switzerland to the sword on Tuesday.
Pepe, Raphael Guerreiro and Rafael Leao also got on the scoresheet while Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji pulled one back for Switzerland, 6-1.

Portugal’s impressive victory means they will now play Morocco in the quarter-finals — with either reigning world champions France or England waiting in the next stage.

So you all got both what you wanted. A Portugal win without Rolando.

Rumors have it that Ronaldo will sign with a Saudi team for $200 million.  Pretty desolate place to be playing for a man who is used to the limelight.
