I had hoped warm weather would cause this to taper off for those in places like NY, NJ, CT, PA, MA and Jules’ MI, but now it’s not looking so good as a theory with what’s happening in southern states.

Scientists have said countries or areas that have a daily average temperature of 67.5 F have less  of the virus outbreak then countries or areas that average from 34 to 67.5 F daily average temperature.  So hopefully, when summer comes to the U.S. the virus will be gone, if not before then.

The experts (I’m not one) just say the virus will move south in the summer, to the Southern Hemisphere.

Native Americans would gorge themselves in time of plenty as preparation for times when food was hard to find.  I tell myself that’s what’s going on with me to justify why it’s OK I’m getting so fat.

Not positive, but pretty sure Native Americans didn't have six packs of beer or fried food when they gorged themselves. Not saying that is what you are gorging on.  Grin Grin  They did eat till their stomachs were full when the food was there.

BTW - how is your ankle/leg doing?

Drinking.  Sounds right, but the masturbating comes after.

But that $1,200 one time payment would save everyone for the duration of this.  facepalm

Unemployment claims are skyrocketing across the U.S.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/coronavirus-weekly-initial-unemployment-claims-march-21-153036254.html

yep, a one time payment of $1,200 will only work if the pandemic lasts just last one month.  I hope the increased unemployment payments make up for it.

UI payments in Arizona are limited to just $240 a week.  That's under $1000 a month to pay rent and bills for those laid off because of this plague, and I suspect people won't be traveling, staying in hotels or eating out in restaurants for some time no matter what Trump says.

Unemployment claims are paid by the state, not the federal government. And that is the ridiculous aspect of this proposal.  The states are already complaining that their unemployment reserves are insufficient to meet the increased demand. So it’s sort of an unfunded mandate from the Federal government. I know there is some money set aside for the states, but I don’t know how it was earmarked, and I suspect it will not be enough.

My wife sews doll clothes for neighbor kids. One neighbor works at a birthing center and they need masks.

So wife has switched gears and is now in full face mask production mode. She'll be finishing over 20 today.

Meanwhile, another neighbor came by last night with her son. His boss wanted employees to check on where masks can be found.  He's to get back to us with a number today. I expect the sewing machine to keep humming away.

Like she says, "It keeps me off the streets."  Hard to keep those 81 years old gals down. Cheesy

Pre-dinner, those 6 beers.  Dinner:  Lamb chops, leftover fried chicken, baked potato with sour cream and chives, chickpea flour battered onion rings broccoli and cauliflower, Caesar salad with lettuce and kale all washed down with a Côtes du Rhône red.  Dessert:  large slice of banana bread slathered with peanut butter and a large glass of bourbon.

Yes, I’m getting fat in quarantine.

I saw the doc on Tuesday about my ankle.  We’re waiting for some RA tests to come back, but we all don’t think RA is the problem.  Elective surgery can’t happen anytime soon for obvious reasons, so I suggested June, and he seemed to think that was reasonable.  I want to be hiking this fall.
