Yep, that’s my cloudy sky.  I traveled to see the total eclipse in 2017 on the North Carolina Tennessee border, but that’s about the only good luck I’ve had with these astronomical events in the last several years.

If any spin is involved, you'd apply the right hand rule to the penis. If up, it is cowgirl. If downward, it is doggy. That's a little quantum mechanics humor.

I can't wait to see photos and maybe video from Ingenuity helicopter.  Four rovers and now the first helicopter on mars.

I sit and watch the videos and even though it's just dirt and rocks, and mountains, the idea these are photos of another planet, I find it fascinating.

Show me a picture of the Grand Canyon and I thick it look pretty, or neat, but show me a picture of a rock on mars, and I'll stare at it for ever,  and the go back and look again.

Watch live today: NASA to unveil video of Perseverance rover landing on Mars

The video is still going on live at the time of this post, but the video of the actual landing starts at about the 11:50 mark.  Before then they talk about the process of the landing which they refer to as 7 minutes of terror.

Many things have been going on lately with perseverance on mars, new solar system discoveries, a space hurricane above the north pole, and now a dolphin was discovered on Jupiter.

Meteor seen over New England, Canada explodes with force of 440 lbs of TNT

Fireball over northern Vermont

Eyewitnesses in the NorthEast and Canada are reporting seeing a bright fireball this evening around 5:38 PM Eastern Standard Time. Analysis of their reports shows that the meteor occurred over northern Vermont, first appearing at a height of 52 miles (84 kilometers) above Mount Mansfield State Forest. Moving northeast at 47,000 miles per hour (21 kilometers per second), it traversed 33 miles (53 kilometers) through the upper atmosphere before burning up 33 miles (53 kilometers) above Beach Hill in Orleans County south of Newport.

Door cameras and dash cams picked up some video of the meteor.

At 259,200 mph, the andromeda galaxy

Is on it's way to merge with the milky way

to create a super massive galaxy dubbed the  Milkomeda Galaxy... so creative.  However the collision between these two will not happen as they had originally thought. You can all stop packing and getting ready to leave to escape the collision because it will happen much later.  This merging was thought to happen at 4.2 billion years, but now they predict that it will be a "glancing blow" where a lot of stars and planets one the edge of each galaxy may be thrown from both galaxies being pushed and pulled around by the addition of different gravitational pulls.  They will pass each other and then make their way back to completely merge around 6 billion years later.  At about 17 billion years the stars and planets will have settled in their new orbits around the mega black hole that will form when the two super massive black holes in the middle of each galaxy collide and devour each other.  If there is any living creatures with the technology we have today, living 4 million lightyears away, they will be able to see and "hear" the collision of the black hole.

So yeah, we have a little time.

I'm a bit of a math geek.  Numbers is my thang.

These numbers are just mind boggling.   The time, the speeds, the sizes.  *Mind Blown*   Earth is but a speck of dust in the grand scheme of things.

Earth is but a speck of dust in the grand scheme of things.

I was reading an astronomy magazine article about sun spots (an area where the magnetic pressure increasing cause atmospheric pressure to decrease causing a "cooling" effect in the outer layers and a dark spot on the sun that usually lasts about a dozen years) It had a picture of one with earth in comparison to it.  You could fit two earths in just this one spot.

Not the same picture but you get the idea

Planet Earth also called "the little blue marble" has extraordinary and beautiful sunsets that are mostly red in color.

On Mars, also known as the "Red Planet" also has beautiful sunsets, but they are a gorgeous blue.
