First time I have heard this term. One of our local politicians is calling for a crack down on cyber-flashing.

As it is defined: Cyber-flashing is sending an "intimate image" to someone using data-dropping technology without the request or express consent of the receiving party.

Intimate body parts are defined as the genitals, pubic area or anus. Intimate images are defined as a photograph, file, videotape, recording or any other reproduction of an image of an individual with fully or partially exposed intimate body parts or engaged in sexual activity that includes masturbation, intercourse, sodomy, fondling or other erotic touching of intimate body parts.

Watcher volunteers to be cyber-flashed... ;D ;D

It’s always a mixed bag. On one hand, if my 12-year-old foster daughter received an unsolicited dick pic, I would want the sender to be castrated. On the other hand, if we’re talking about adults, do we really need to criminally prosecute individuals for boorish behavior? Maybe he or she was drunk, or stoned, lonely, and sent a photo they later regretted.  And the ex from hell tries to make a Federal case out of it. You’d hope such a law will be applied intelligently. Unfortunately, they are very few intelligent people at the local police station and prosecutor’s office.

So many thoughts going through my mind about this...but after the PornHub thing...I'm not saying a single thing lest I want this thread sent to 1408.

I'm confused by the term "data-dropping" in the OP.  Is this like AirDrop that iPhone users use?    When in a restaurant or public place and I try to share a picture I get all kinds of names popping up.

I'm sure this is just another fight in the battle against sex trafficking.   As long as its consensual by both parties it's a non issue.  The problem I see is if two people are dating and share pictures and then they split up... it becomes another he said she said problem.

It is AirDrop.  Many I phone users don't even know they have the app on their phones.

Settings>General>Airdrop

I have mine set for “contacts only.”  If it is set for “everyone” that is who can airdrop photos to you.

I'm typically behind the curve when it comes to technology, and I discovered this feature relatively recently.

Back in December I was riding the El in Chicago with my nephews and nieces, I showed my niece a picture on my phone. She asked me to AirDrop it to her, and I had no idea how to do that. She showed me, and I saw 5 or 6 other names pop up in the screen, presumably people in the same car. Then she showed me how to do what Toe recommends.

My son sent me this meme last night.  Apparently, it reminded him of me...  :emot_laughing:
