Local sports columnist Sid Hartman died yesterday at 100 years old. I know that this won't mean much to KBers, but I want people to know about this most remarkable man.
He started in the newspaper business at nine years old, selling newspapers. Later he became a sports reporter and was still working up to the end. His last column appeared in Sunday's paper. He amassed over 20 thousand byline articles.
To most of us in Minnesota, he's always been there. His network of close friends in the sports world earned him many scoops, some of them that went national.
I'm including a link to a 3,000 word obit. That's what it took to sum up Sid's remarkable life and career. It was a front page article... pushing politics and Covid-19 to the inside pages.
