Stay safe MsSlave.  I've been thinking of you these last few nights.

Our neighborhood will be mobilized again tonight. We had some cars circling the block last night. We feel they were somewhat trapped in the area. The bridge to St. Paul, near us had been blocked by police. Another major street was closed. There are trained people on our block.

Right now thousands are marching on downtown Minneapolis. They are peaceful and expressing their first amendment rights.
It's night when those who want to loot and destroy come out.

Chicago has literally closed off the downtown area so the looters have fanned out to the suburbs in organized groups looting big box stores at will. In broad daylight, as news helicopters are overhead filming them and nary a officer of the law around.

msslave - heard on our local news that most of the looters arrested up by you were from out of state. Our police department arrested over 300 people just last night but has not released where they live. Our mayor has said the looting was planned as they have evidence on film of groups of rental trucks pulling up to the high priced stores along the Magnificent Mile and cars full of looters following behind getting out and loading the trucks up with all the stolen merchandise.

Cops. Will. Not. Protect. You.

Before Covid: Whole family told me to get rid of my guns.

Now: Maybe we should all get a permit and learn to use them.

CJ might be fucking retarded, but at least I know the cops aren't going to help you when gangs of terrorists are coming to rob you and burn down your home. CJ would shoot first, and not bother ever asking questions if that happened. Stay the fuck away from my tribe.

Arrests here show most arrested are from Minnesota. Officials have walked back that original statement that most were from out of town. Some arrested have been from out of state, but less than 20%.

Our neighborhood is organized. You must protect your self if police are outnumbered, like here when this started. National Guard is saving our butts. Even more citizen soldiers expected tonight.

Thank you for finding the quote, MissBarbara. Actually, I was surprised to see the Third Degree Murder charge, and read further to find the lack of evidence that the Officer placing his knee on the suspect was found as a cause of death.

The suspect had underlying health conditions which, as you said, along with the self induced intoxicants in his system, and the stress anyone would feel, having been caught in a crime, pulled from his vehicle while resisting, and being held immobile, for the protection of the public and the Officers while they awaited Transport of the suspect, all are a factor to be noted.

Having heard the suspect complain of pain and breathing issues, knowing the call had been placed for Paramedics to attend the conditions, the clock ticked on without further actions being taken by the arrest team.

Perhaps that decision, and/or police training, warrants review for future cases where a suspect asks for help, and Paramedic Help is on the way, AND the coroner did not find a MURDER cause, beyond some combination of events, it seems to me. The Third Degree Murder charge of one Officer, in hopes of appeasing the unruly MOB burning down the local police station, seems more a Press Release Opportunity, than a legitimate charge worthy of conviction.

We shall see how it all shakes out, I suppose. I suppose the other Officers were Fired for calling for Paramedics? Or waiting for Paramedics arrival? I have not read yet what the Police Union Rep agreed to regarding the firing offense.

For what it is worth, there was no evidence of asphyxiation was found at the autopsy of Mr. Floyd.

No evidence to show the knee on his neck caused his death.

Just to be clear, are you truly arguing that the police officers' action had absolutely nothing to do with George Floyd's death?

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner sharply differs with you. If you're going to quote from Floyd's autopsy report, please cite it in its entirety:

"No physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation. Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death."

First things first.  The autopsy said "ANY intoxicants", not that there were actually any in his system.  Second, the paramedics themselves asked the murderer to get off of him, but he did not and refused to move.  And lastly the other three were fired for not policing their fellow officer. How's that saying go?  Who watches the watchmen?  The DUTY of a police officer is not to arrest people or give tickets, it is to protect the citizens of their jurisdiction. Having a man say he cant breath or shows signs of distress and they do nothing to give aid is a failure of their oath and duty.  They failed because they did nothing to other than call paramedics and they should be considered accomplices.

Stand there and watch one of your friends choke somebody and do nothing other than call 911 and see what happens to you love.

I have served with "men" like this.  They get angry and try to be tough with those who are defenseless, or who they know they can beat.  They do it to make themselves feel big and strong.  I have a very intimate experience with this type of coward.

I know I shouldn't laugh at this, but I did.

I have an expandable baton, bear spray, and my side arm all within arms reach as I type this.  I have not experienced anything near what our dear sweat MsSlave is going through, and I wish you safety during unrest, love.  Our local law enforcement has asked us to stay inside, and I don't even live in a big city

My sweet kind hearted neighbor across the street is legit sitting on a lawn chair on his porch with a hunting rifle.

Habit of living alone for 15 years.  Peek in the garage and make sure the garage doors are both down.  Lock the door to garage.  Make sure front door is locked.  Make sure the patio sliding glass door is locked.

I wish I could feel safe enough to sleep with the doors unlocked.

I have a big stick by the front door...I will not be speaking softly tho'

I have a maglite flash light that holds 6 D batteries between my bed and nightstand.  At about 8 pounds, it can be used as more than just a flashlight.

Our close knit neighborhood has been drawn even closer through all this. We had several people up all night on watch for curfew violators and trespassers. Two young people were driven off by us shouting at them and baseball bats displayed.

We met again tonight and reviewed info we'd heard. Last night and tonight we've put yellow caution tape across the street at both ends of the block.

Humor remains good. A neighbor suggested we put a chalk outline of a body on the street to make "evil doers" think twice. :D

All the protests in my area have been peaceful.  There were a few people trying to rial up the crowd to start riots and looting, but the protesters rushed them off.  Still, I sleep in my recliner facing the doot, with Salem on my lap, and a 357 on the end table. I hear any screams, or calls of distress and I'm out the door.  You all might be talking about me next on "good guy with a gun".

I used to too.  It’s locked at night these days and most of the time during the day to my frequent frustration.

The opioid crisis means that about once a year or two some guys will rove through our neighborhood at night seeing what they can steal.  That’s happened during the day too, at least in an adjacent neighborhood.  The only thing that ever happened to me was 10 years ago or so I left my truck unlocked and a pocket watch and some change was stolen.  My first wife had the watch engraved.  She replaced it, but that watch broke.  I wouldn’t be able to use it now anyways, jealously would prevent that.

I also married a girl from Lima.  She’ll lock the door behind me when I go get the mail.  It’s crazy the way she and her sister do that.  You can go out to get something from the car and be gone 20 seconds and have to knock on the door to get back in.

There’s a loaded Glock in .40 S&W within reach of my bed and a loaded Springfield.45 in my trailer, but really the German Shepherd is a far more reliable deterrent.

I agree with you shiela.  He was playing the tough guy and enjoyed having his knee on the man’s neck.  A man who at 40-something began crying for his mama as he knew his life was leaving him.

I need to train my cats to bark. They just yeowl at me for treats.
The male spends most of the night watching out the window. Maybe if he saw trouble he'll wake me.

The cat I had before him would wake me in the night if a storm was about to break.

I miss having cats.  I’ve had cats and dogs all my life, sometimes overlapping, sometimes just cats or just dogs.  My Peruvian is allergic to cats and my German Shepherd would view them as snacks, so it doesn’t look like I’ll have them again.  I just hope I can convince her to get another dog one day, she’s not overly fond of the Shepherd.
