It's been a long while since I went out club hopping, so I no longer have people in real life with whom to share musical enthusiasms. However I do have KB, and here is the music thread, so let me share
I am completely out of touch with what the young people of today are listening to, but I see that boogie woogie, long dead in the US, is still popular in Europe, at least so far as having its own little niche.
I was surprised to learn tonight that Japan has a niche for New Orleans jazz. Not just that, but the Tokyo New Orleans Rhythm Stompers play with heart and soul fully equal to anything that was ever found at the bottom of the mighty Mississipp.
I was impressed with the playing of every one of the members of this ensemble, but will speak especially in favor of the clarinetist, who was not only female (not a lot of females in New Orleans jazz that I ever witnessed) but one heck of a devil on the lickrish stick--which is a serious challenge to play well, but she nursed the sweetest sounds that could be drawn out of that thing. And it was a tenor, no less, when what we usually get is alto. I like the lower register.

You may notice that my first paragraph has a space between the last word and the period. In my draft, that space was occupied by the YouTube url, but it disappeared between draft and posting. Trying again:
