Thanks. I'm very happy with the care I've received over the years at the Minneapolis VA. I have stage 4 cancer. If you want you can check back to previous posts and find out more.

Thanks for caring. Sounds like you're going through a lot too. Glad to see you being active as a new member.

Never been a fan of the VA hospital. Hope you're now waiting too long.

Love you  :emot_kiss:

Thanks Toe and Shiela.

I've got people who are pushing things along for me. MRIs are busy. I think I'll get in soon though. They are worried about a possible stroke that caused my foot to go numb. :o
That may put me higher on the waiting list.

Thanks Hades. All support is appreciated.

Not to be a Debby Downer, but everyone needs to remember that I'm dealing with stage 4 cancer. The best I can hope for is a little extra time. Doc told me in June I have a year maybe more. It's the maybe more I'm looking at and taking what additional treatments offered. These are to help control the pain I'm having and other problems ahead as bitch cancer does it's evil work.

Don't dispare, I've had a great life with few regrets.. I'm still enjoying the time I have left. Part of my enjoyment is this group.
So let's rejoice in my life and join me on my final ride.

You will recall that I lost my favorite uncle earlier this year to Stage 4 Colorectal cancer. They gave him six months, and he made it a year. And he used that time to touch so many lives. And I got to spend a lot of time with him. I got to tell him that I loved him, and how important he was to me. And in the end, that was the greatest gift of a dire situation. So I do rejoice in your life Bob. We are here for you.

I love you for your support Toe. It's easy to put on a brave face now. I just hope I can hang on to my positive attitude when things get really bad.  I'm told there will be good drugs. ;D

Strange comment from a recovering drug addict, I know.
The drugs work on the pain... there's no getting high.

This being KB, I can imagine what type of ride you may be referring to. 😎

We love you Bob, and we're so lucky that you still visit here. So so lucky.

I told you why I don't comment much in this topic. I think I told you in that same PM how much I love you.

Bob, I've been on the board for quite a few years, and like most people here, I have a few "topics" I like to keep my eye on, but have rarely contributed anything but a comment here and there.

However, I "latched" onto your topic some time back when I noticed the title. And being the perv that I am, I immediately thought "Oh boy." Some lucky guy/girl has some fun with their doctor. Well, truth be told, even though that wasn't what "My Doctor Visit" was about, I was hooked.

As quite a few others have said, I am so awe struck by your attitude. Even though none of us are getting out of here alive, you are facing the truth of your situation head on, with authority, straight forwardness, and an underlying calm and peace that is some remarkable. I hate the situation you are in, having lost several family members to cancer, but I love the person you are, regardless of what has been dealt.

I do pray for my family, friends, and yes, world peace, and I pray that your pain will be minimal and each and every day will bring you additional blessings.

Peace,
Tim

Thanks so much Tim and Staci. I have a strong support group both in real life and right here on KB. Not getting out of the house much so mostly seeing neighbors and a few friends who stop by.

Medical visits to the VA are good too. It must be one of the better VA Medical Centers
Everyone I meet is so friendly and helpful.

Again thanks for the kind words.

On my many visits to the VA, I never saw a nurse or other worker without a smile on their face. Some doctors are nice and will joke around. But I never had a bad experience at the VA.

I'm taking a pill... actually 4 a day...to treat the rogue cancer in my prostrate. That's where the additional bone cancer is coming from.

One of the side effects is weakening the bones. I'm taking two calcium and vitamin D pills a day. They also want to infuse me with a drug that will also help strengthen my bones. May also give me some pain relief. God, I hope so.

One warning is any dental problems may cause infection in my jaw. So, 4 teeth had to come out. That happened yesterday. It ended up to be three teeth as one has been flaking away for years. It was mostly filling and very little tooth.

When I went for initial consult there was still something there. Dentist went to start on that one and surprise! Gone from the check a few weeks ago.

Moving on POP...POP.  First two out in a flash. Dentist started on the third and last. Then I hear, " This one's crumbling". Damn!
Another shot of Novocaine and some serious pulling. Dentist even went up on his toes for more leverage. I was waiting for that cartoon moment when he jumped in my lap. :D

Finally it let loose, dental tool hitting the tooth above it. A couple.bits and pieces to pull out and, DONE!

Gave two bags of gauze for bleeding. Whole thing was less than an hour. Assistant went over a list of instructions and I was on.
Mouth packed with gauze, my wife and friend who drove us met me downstairs . All kinds of questions fired at me. I said, "Muufff mfff ooouumofe.".

They got the idea and home we went. Now just have to get infusion scheduled. I have an appointment next week with my Oncology people.
