Thanks Jules. The rest seems to be taking care of itself. Yesterday I fell asleep in front of the TV early in the afternoon. Wife let me snooze past our normal dinner time.

Now I'm up early to be at a 6:30 appointment at an outside pain clinic the VA referred me to. Back to the VA at 1:00 today for more radiation treatment. Somewhere in there I need to run across the river to St. Paul and pick up my new glasses that are in.

I got out of the house at 6:00 AM on my way to first medical appointment for the day. Went for another injection in my spine. Today the Doc decided to repeat the first one I had last April. It's not just an injection in the spine but it's directed to the nerve that's causing my leg pain.

Last time it was like a bolt of lightning down my leg. I said some naughty words..

Doctor today is Harvard and Yale trained. She said she was going to go slow so it wouldn't hurt as much. True to her word I could feel a tingle in my leg so I knew she had the needle on the nerve but it was tolerable.

So half my day is over. On to the VA at 1:00 for my second of five radiation treatments for the cancer that.is cracking my sternum and yeah, it hurts.

Did my last of five radiation treatments this morning. I have a spot of cancer on my sternum that started causing me problems...as in lots of pain. The cancer had actually cracked my sternum.

I've already had lots of relief from the pain and I met with the doctor yesterday. He told me that the treatments had been effective and that the bone should knit back together.

Everyone one wished me.well as I left this morning. Even a couple of other patients in the waiting room wished me well. The VA is like one big family. I think that extra support helps.

Thanks so much. That's the sweetest thing anyone has said in a long time. Caring about others helps keep my mind off my own problems.

Things have been going good for me. It's the support I get here that's helped so much. I just want to give back what's been given to me. :emot_kiss:

Getting ready for the next step in trying to get my legs working again. To recap, after the cancer was brought to heel it was found I have a herniated disc.

I was in a lot of pain, would even wake me up at night. I was referred to an outside pain clinic. They gave me an injections in my spine that's helped with the pain, but I still have lots of numbness. Now it's  like have two posts for legs.

Next attempt is an implantable device with wires injected into my spine. It sends signals to my spine to try and redirect what the nerves are supposed to be doing. I get to try it for a week with the device taped on me before cutting me open and sticking it inside. Nice to get a test run first before the knives come out.

Had a physical therapist run me through some tests. Next I talk with someone from Behavioral Health what ever that is . Then they decide what's next.

I'm sure the behavioral health just want to make sure you understand the significance of having a machine permanently attached to you. Some people dont do well mentally with things like that. We have a family friend who needed a colostomy bag, and he fell into a pit of depression for quite a while. Hes doing great now and has nothing but good to say about getting it, but it's a life change for most. I think they just want you prepared.

Love you bob :emot_kiss:

Thanks, that makes sense. I think I can handle the implant if it helps me .

That's the nice thing about taking a test drive first with it taped to me.

Not only will the doctors work closely with me getting it adjusted, a representative from the manufacturer will be involved.

Off to the VA today.  I need to get the infusion to strengthen my bones. I have two medications that can weaken the bone but fight the cancer. So another med to counteract that.

Also I had another Battlefield Acupuncture set for today so the nurse that does that will come down to where I'm getting the infusion and poke my ears with her needles. I leave them in three days.

With two nurses fussing over me it will feel like a spa day.... with sharp pointy things. :D

Good. Got my bones protected for another three months. Meanwhile my ears each have five tiny pins in them. It's.a form of acupuncture developed.by a VA doctor. I leave the pins in for three days then pull them out.

Woo to the 3 month extended warranty on the bones.

I've always wanted to do acupuncture. 3 days in the ear though? Im a restless sleeper and would probably wake up with blood all over my pillow.

Naw... they're teeny tiny things. Can barely be seen. I use a small magnet to pull them out after the three days. No blood either.

Going through what you are, even though it seems like it should be the other way around, your positive posts always seem to cheer me up. Happy things have been as good as they have been for you love.

I also want to try acupuncture, as it seems quite amazing that pins in certain spots can relieve so much.  I have done warm stone therapy. Rather enjoyable.
