I've questioned a lot about the nature of eternity and the universe lately.  I used to be a Catholic and thought I was being pious and devout when I really used my religion as a source of identity, a crutch, and a source of control.

I listen to a lot of podcasts about the paranormal, including Jim Harold's Campfire and Astonishing Legends.  Hearing the stories on those two podcasts lead me to question a lot of things.

Do I believe in a life outside of the physical, that we have a soul that moves on to another dimension or something of that nature?  Yes.
I also believe that we have a choice as to what that existence ends up being.  We choose between guilt, shame, and a dark meaningless existence, separation from everyone and everything including any spiritual goodness, and that is hell.
We can also choose to have an eternity of peace and joy, and who knows, maybe even come back to experience life in a different way to learn from our prior mistakes, etc.  So that could be considered Heaven.

In terms of the question at hand, I would argue that yes, people who are "pervs" can go to Heaven or have a peaceful and joyful afterlife existence.  It just depends on one's judgment of one's actions in life and whether to see or choose hope over despair.  Remember that the bible does say that the measure we use to measure others is the same one we'll be measured against?  Well, that is true.  If you would see someone else as being a "perv" but you engage in the same activities as them behind closed doors, then you are actually judging your own actions as "bad" and may end up choosing despair over hope.

Again, keep in mind these are just thoughts I've had recently and they may change over time.
That was a very insightful response to my question.  I've had a lot of those same thoughts.

Maybe I'm thinking of this from the wrong perspective, but here's how I see it. Consider society's ability to regulate, communicate, comprehend, interact, and coexist during the time religions were created.

At that time, I think people were more impressionable and didn't have the ability to fact check anything. Can't explain something and there's no science in existence to explain it.. must be a miracle, God's will, or because of your faith/lack thereof. It couldn't possibly be chance or the results of circumstance. I'm sure it made it easier to convince folks to follow along like obedient sheep.

There have always been 'pure of heart' people who also enjoy power. What better way than shaming people into submission and proving your power with a fictitious threat of hell. A couple written guides about the right and wrong ways to live as a supplement to the cause. Limited communication prevents anyone from calling bullshit. Next thing you know, there's organized religion.

In this day and age, it's difficult to believe any of it is true. Personally, I feel it's important to be a positive member of society and curb any urges that cause problems for my fellow earth dwellers. That's my guidance system.

When I die, I'll let my body be compost to grow food for the next round. Hopefully memories of my intellect, discussions, and perspective let my soul live on through friends and family. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone to speak as an authority about how daily choices direct what happens when we die.

I sincerely hope I'm not surrounded by like-minded people right now. It would scare the shit out of me to be submerged in that kind of filth!!

I've always thought that, as long as everything is consensual and not hurting anyone, morality has absolutely nothing to do with sex.

So I highly doubt that even participating in a 50 person bisexual orgy, with a couple of midgets pissing on everyone, and a few dobermans running around and plugging holes, would keep anyone out of heaven.

Sure, that might violate some rules of the biblical God, but I also think the biblical God is very much a man-made creation meant to control other people.

Since Heaven is supposed to be about eternal bliss, wouldn't the afor mention scenario actually be a place IN heaven?

[M]y opinion runs along the same lines as Porndaddy... err... pornhubby. There is some kind of control there.

... Oh, anal sex, I'll add that to the list."
