For KB to keep existing at all several of them had to be removed.

I was never a fan of the stuff that’s missing and for KB to survive I’m glad this stuff is gone

PenIS, Not being a fan of a board is not reason to be glad it is gone. If anything you should be mad it had to be taken down.  When free speech is limited it is no longer free. You were free not to visit the boards you didn't like. I don't care for the many of the subboards on the NC board, but it doesn't mean i would be glad to see them  removed.  I am glad KB still exists but it is diminished when stories have to be removed because people feel the need to control others.

The board was shutdown for about 3 weeks by the hosting company.  It was brought to their attention that we were posting illegal content.  The hosting company agreed and suspended our account.  Lois and others were in communication with the hosting company and explained the situation.  We agreed that to continue we would remove all of the following:

  • Incest
  • Bestiality
  • UnderAge (younger than 18}
  • Rape/NC
  • Snuff

As for FOXI's stories.  She removed them herself, which is an authors right to do so.  She changed the post of each story to "No Story Here".   Once FOXI did that, I moved the entire board so that it would not show up on the forum.  If FOXI ever wants to post her stories here again, she knows how to reach me.

If we want to continue keeping KB up and running, we have to play by the rules, which we always have tried to do.

I feel sorry for Lois and the moderators. It is hard to do a job when the goal post keep moving. And what they do here isn't a job but must be a labor of love

Indeed.

When free speech is limited it is no longer free.

I agree, but you never had free speech in the United States. If anything, you had the illusion of free speech. Libel, blasphemy and obscenity were all issues even going back to the original colonies in the 17th Century.  I remember reading a legal paper that examined the history of this issue, and there were libel/obscenity/blasphemy laws in place going back as far as the original colonists.

Agreed. I have always maintained that the only difference between the West and the Communist Bloc was in the content that was censored -- in our societies, it is sex, in those societies, it was  politics.

Absolutely! You nailed it on the head here. I was never a fan of Bestiality, and never wrote a story in Incest, yet I was glad that other users were free to read and write stuff in these sections in the same way I was free to post UA stories.

Free speech ought to be defended and fought for.

I find it very concerning that this Inquisition extended the ban to non-consent. How long before they hit RU as well? I really hope Lois finds a new host who values free speech.

You'll still see me around. I may still write chapters of "My Lucky Break" which I feel is a lovely consensual story between a black man and a 25-year-old white lady; it is set in 1956. At least they didn't ban interracial... yet.  :(

My fantasies have many lights and shadows.

Free speech ought to be defended and fought for.

As it has already been exhaustively pointed out, this has nothing to do with free speech.

We have no right to post on KB, and the host has to right to determine which type of content may appear on KB. Like it or not, that's the reality, and if you don't like it, then move on.

There are hundreds and hundreds of examples of true free speech being dampened or denied in real life, and those are the instances where "free speech out to be defended and fought for."

The right to post a fantasy story about three uncles gang-raping their 12-year-old niece (an actual story posted here) is not a right that falls under the category of "free speech."

THIS.

Free Speech prevents the GOVERNMENT from limiting what you can say, as long as what you say doesn't immediately lead to a life threatening situation (such as incitement to riot, or yelling "fire" in a crowded theater). It does NOT protect you from a private company deciding what it does and does not want published on servers it owns, in the same way a brick and mortar business can ban you from the premesis for saying something in their store they don't like (badmouthing the store, loudly discussing topics they deem unacceptable, etc).

Yes, yes, of course. But they have extended the ban to non-consent... and our sister site is called RAVISHU.

See the problem here? Non-consent is the very essence of Ravishu. RU is a lot bigger than KB and it's a site intended for adults who have rape fantasies.  Lois has a contract with the host, who should have been aware of the nature of RU's content when they signed. Yes, there can be some changes in rules along the way, but this goes way over the top.

If Ravishu goes, KB goes with it.

My fantasies have many lights and shadows.

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that complaints with the German authorities resulted in KB getting booted by the host it shared with RavishU. Then our second host booted us as well, over complaints about under 18 material. So we are now on host number three, and I don’t think our viability swings on Ravish U. Or vice versa.

Currently KB and RU are hosted by exactly the same ip on the internet, thus the same host, and same server even. However yes RU has gotten taken down repeatedly for content on KB, like this last time that we are currently suffering through the aftermath of.

But government restriction IS actually at the heart of the problem here. The sites were taken down, not because the people who run the server suddenly decided they didn't approve of the content, but because they were threatened with LEGAL action.
It's the same as if a brick and mortar business forcibly removed someone from their building for doing something illegal, even if the authorities haven't been called yet. The business would do that to protect themselves from legal liability, even if the person's actions did not otherwise affect them.
Thus, the impetus comes directly from government pressure and not private sector choice.

I'm not saying we have a "right" to post anything here. What I am saying is that it's inaccurate to frame this as though it was the server's free choice not to host the controversial content and that government restrictions play no part in it.

The people running the server are under real threat of government punishment or criminal prosecution if they continue to host the material in question. I do believe that platforms have a responsibility to moderate the content shared on them, but at the same time, if no platform will host certain content because of government restrictions, then that content is effectively censored by the government for all intents and purposes.

Some technologies, like the telephone infrastructure, have become so commonplace and essential to modern life that they are considered "common carriers," meaning they cannot censor the content shared over them, but at the same time, they cannot be held responsible for that content. KB is by no means a common carrier, so you are correct that posting here is a privilege and not a right.

But since there are virtually no other platforms that will host the content in question due to fear of government restrictions, this becomes a discussion about free speech.

No one bad is ever truly bad, and no one good is ever truly good.
