On the way home from the movies, we stopped and picked up a few tickets.   


I'd like to buy 10 acres and put in an 18 hole putt-putt course.  Not short little dinkey putts.  Like 40 yarders with tunnels and spinning wind mills as obstacles.

We just got back from our walk to the 7-11.

 First thing I do if I win, is I'm going back to Ireland.  I want to spend more time there. Like a month.

I'm happy to admit that I have never bought one lottery ticket or any scratch off game since all this "State sponsored" gambling started.

I look at paying for these chances to win as a voluntary tax.

Same here. I've never bought a lottery ticket, never bought a scratch card, never placed a bet. Never even thought of doing any of those things.

I don’t play with any serious expectations of winning anything. Rather, I play it for the license to fantasize about winning. I get great enjoyment thinking about all the things I would do, if I had the money to do them. And that’s worth the cost of a ticket.

My fear is winning something. Even a few bucks. As a recovering addict it's possible it could set me off on a spending spree.

Have one friend in recovery also who end d up losing his house and another who almost ruined his marriage over his losses

Does anyone remember that movie called “In Time” (2005) with Justin Timberlake? It’s set in the future. And everyone lives to be 25 years old. After that, you have to buy additional time to live. Time is literally money.

Anyway, Timberlake‘s character has some guy give him 2000 years. Naturally, he shares it with his friend. Gave him a decade or something. Timberlake goes back to see him, and his wife starts screaming at him that his friend immediately went out and drank himself to death with all the time that Timberlake gave him.

So be careful what you wish for. I’ve read a lot of stories about people that have won the lottery and had it ruined their life. I like to think I could handle it, but I’ve never won, so we won’t know until that happens.

I buy tickets every so often, but it's almost always an impulse purchase. They're scanning my items and I look down and think "why the hell not"  I get excited when I buy a dollar ticket and win a dollar Woo hoo me!!
