She is like a ghost to me
I can’t feel or hear her,
But she is very real.
I want to tell her everything.
To spill my many sins,
Reveal my darkest secrets…
I want to cry with her.
Not to see her in pain,
But to let her know she’s not alone.
She has infected me with her essence,
It devours more with every heartbeat
And there is no cure.
My body aches without her
So I slip into restless slumber
Begging to dream of her.
She beckons me to come,
Stretching her arms out wide.
Like a fawn I leap and bound.
She wraps her arms around me
And my limbs go weak and fail,
But she catches me before I hit the ground.
She speaks softly in my ear,
“You are safe with me.”
Her words have humbled my restless heart.
I awake in a cold sweat
With tears of sorrow and joy,
Because I have found my muse.
