Good point. Not that I thought Shiela would go off on a rant that it's all just a Chinese/international communist conspiracy, but I've gotten into the habit of not bringing up the subject just because you never know how people will react. While I don't know anyone personally who thinks Covid is a hoax, I know several who think that the virus is just another form of the flu at worst, and that the situation is deliberately exaggerated by the government to try to curb our rights. One got Corona herself and didn't really have any symptoms, which then just reinforced her opinion. Meanwhile, another one who got Corona was pretty miserable for about a week, and he now admits he no longer thinks its exaggerated.

Anyway, glad to hear everything is better Shiela. You may want to follow up on that thumb-to-ass Covid test idea ;)

So I got to the doctor's office and I was offered the anal Swab thing, and it was going pretty good until I found out this guy doesn't even work there. So after he finished went in got the Qtip to the brain and I was out pretty quick.

That swap really is uncomfortable to say the least, thought they had spead up the processing and I'd know by the end of the day, but they said it would take about 24 hours.

Got notified that I'll be getting a refund on my VA co-pays, going back to April 2020. Also all co-pays will be waived thru September of this year.

It's funded by one billion dollars in Biden's two trillion relief package.

Still waiting on our stimulus money. Heard today that Social Security recipients are being paid last.

Yesterday actually. Made first trip of the spring to my favorite wildlife refuge.  And...wild life it was. Taking pictures of a pair of Trumpeter Swans peacefully swimming on the lake when (gasp) the male mounted the female and, in a few more weeks cygnets!

Stately Swans on the lake.


And then... :o


Whole episode took just a minute or so. No foreplay, just wham bam and now lets go lay some eggs.
Collar on the male is a radio transmitter.

Sandhill Cranes are just starting to come back for their "winter vacation". Heard this on coming and had the camera ready when it appeared over the trees.


Red-Wing Blackbirds are back, males anyway. They return first, stake out their territory and the gals come in later ready to get down to business.

The collars are well fitted. Remember, layer of feathers under there. Also collars designed to break away easy so they can't get too tight, or in case it gets snagged on a branch.

Thanks for your concern. In the late 1960s, Trumpeter Swans were extinct in lower 48 states. Some were found in Alaska and eggs brought here and hatched. Now their population thrives...a real success story.

I saw a blue Jay two days ago, hadn't realized I hadn't seen any this year yet.  Neighbors across the street are huge bird people.  They have peanuts for the blue Jay.

Just watched an interview with Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth. What an amazing woman. From early struggles in childhood with poverty, getting into college, signing up for ROTC and in the Army becoming a helicopter pilot, and losing both legs from a RPG attack.

She's gone on to serve in the House of Representatives and now the Senate. She's not afraid to speak her mind, throwing in some crusty language once in a while.

Her autobiography comes out Tuesday. I've pre ordered it. I want to know more about this fantastic leader.

I think Biden should have appointed her to some high level post, like head of the VA.  Her and another senator from Hawaii had a mini protest over Biden's not including Asians in his top picks, except for Harris, his VP.  Biden soon promised to appoint an Asian and her protest ended.

I think she is needed in the Senate now. I'm sure if Tammy she's Biden straying, she'll let him know...fast.

I think that's exactly the point. She was well-qualified to serve in Biden's cabinet, but she's more valuable in the Senate.

But it shouldn't be lost that her point was perfectly valid. Asian-Americans make up 6% of the U.S. population, and 0% of Biden's cabinet.

Bald eagle population soaring.

From 2009 until this year, the bald eagle population in the lower 48 states has quadrupled.  Now there are 71,400 nesting pairs and an estimated 316,700 individual birds.

In 1963, the nesting pairs were at an all time low of 417 known nesting pairs, due to hunting and DDT.
