Only used a few of the pain pills they gave him.

That’s crazy talk.  They cut the sternum in half and basically filet you.  No need to be a hero.  Tell her to enjoy her candy.

I just officially quit the prescription the cardiologist changed me to last year.  I've had strokes and one heart attack, all likely due to blood clots.  I'd been on an 81mg aspirin to reduce the likelihood of blood clots, and he changed me to Plavix, an anti-clotting drug.  I've had numerous bleeding issues this last year, and apparently last night while sleeping I had an itch on the back of one leg, and I scratched it with my other foot, cutting a vein with a toenail.  I woke with about a liter of blood in bed, destroying my mattress, sheets and comforter, and scaring me silly as that's about 1/5th of your blood supply.  I could have bled out and died in my sleep last night!

As of RIGHT FUCKING NOW I'm back on the 81mg aspirin, as the bleeding problems were never this bad with aspirin.

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

First off.  So sorry to hear about this, and hope you make a speedy recovery.

Second, my doctors had me on the blood thinner Xarelto in the hospital, and I told them no way they were keeping me on that.  I switched to a daily aspirin on discharge, but not before suffering GERT, gastrointestinal problems, and black stools.  I also knew about the dozens of liability lawsuits filed against anti-coagulant manufacturers.  My best friend had some terrible complications and side effects, that his family believe contributed to his death at age 52.

I just don’t trust Big Pharma, and I’m not a fan of prescription medications.

Low dose aspirin I hope.  I made that mistake before.

Someone at my work passed away less than two weeks ago from a blood clot (thrombosis).  She was only 40.  That has me thinking about the severity of such things.  I also just had an ultrasound of my leg to determine if some swelling of my ankle was due to a clot, it wasn’t.

I remember being a bit put off at being called sir by a young woman while in line for Grateful Dead tickets many years ago.  She apologized when I pointed out I wasn’t THAT much older than her.  She said it was habit from working in retail, and we had a laugh about it.

Now I often require young girls such as yourself to call me Sir.  And that has nothing to do with my age or her working in retail.

For a real burn wait until you get old.

I really hate the whipper snappers who call me young fella...or the wife, young lady.  What BS. Old is old and we know it and feel it.  No joshing remarks are going to change that.  We've worked hard to live this long and I don't need some young fool trying to make me feel better with a "young fella"

Now comes the "OK Boomer" reply's

Deeply crappy few days.

Mother in hospital, possibly dying, car broken beyond repair, snake died, son had his motorbike stolen...

He got the bike back with a wrecked ignition, I don't think I'm getting my mam back...

So sorry IB.  Sad news indeed. You can buy another car, get another snake and fix the bike...there's only one Mom.
