Fuzzy Duck were a UK group who released only one album, back in 1971. Listening to it today brought back memories. I never saw the band live, but their manager used to phone me two or three times a week, gushing about this wonderful new group he'd signed, and begging me to book them for £50 per gig.

Only 500 copies of their album were pressed, and original copies are now changing hands for over $1,000.

I picked up a CD re-release with several bonus tracks and some helpful liner notes by UK journalist Chris Welch. The notes solve the mystery of the group's name. It comes from an English drinking game. "Players are expected to utter the phrase 'fuzzy duck' or 'ducky fuzz' and pose the question, 'Does he?' If a player says the wrong phrase and breaks the rhythm he has to down more drink, whether a pint of beer or a shot of spirits."

Happy as I am to solve that little mystery, I'm also kicking myself for not booking the group, or asking their manager for a copy of their album. Had I done so, I'd be $1,000 the richer.

I was a great fan of the original Animals in my youth but only just discovered this. Didn't know Eric Burdon was still performing

This morning I was listening to a random selection of guitar rock, enjoying the impact of the music, but also noticing (not for the first time) that the lyrics were painfully trivial.

This observation brought back a memory of sitting in a train across from a tall black guy whom we all called "Scottie". After staring out of the window for thirty minutes, Scottie said to me, "Hey, I have a great idea for a song. Listen to this." He then sang a few lines while tapping the window ledge with his fingers. It didn't sound good at all. Like a rhyme made up by a child.

Maybe I was unkind to Scottie. Judging by my reaction this morning, his "song" might have sounded superb with a professional arrangement and good recording.

Rumour had it that Scottie had appeared in the movie "Zabriskie Point". It wasn't just a rumour. He did appear, blurred and unfocused, in the arrested student scene. Some time later I came across a shot that never made it to the movie. The tall black guy is Scottie:

I'm listening to a "Best Hits" album by the German disco group Dschinghis Khan. Back in the day, a friend dragged me to a disco club and I tried out a few dance moves---for all of ten minutes. I was soon drenched in sweat. Some of the people on the dance floor must have been world-class athletes.

I know that most folks consider disco music an abomination, but I confess to a fondness for hits like "Moskau" and "Dschinghis Khan". Wonderful foot-tapping singalongs.

Whoever came up with this English version of the lyrics deserves a medal.

Listening to some old school 90's music.  My favorite decade for sure: Concrete Blonde - Mexican Moon!

I'm listening to this compilation of classic tracks from the 1960s.

The album cover is faux-psychedelic, the only authentic element being the distorted names of the bands. I counted up how many of the bands I'd seen perform live, and the number came to Lucky Seven.

One of my all time favorite songs.  I had a great memory of wearing a red dress at a wedding many years ago.  The DJ put this song on.  I wanted to pull my date out in the parking lot after that for a slow back seat f, but he said no.

****moderator note:   Thank you for posting Nicky.   I had to remove the video from being displayed because we have a rule here.  No children in videos, no children in images.   Sometimes our rules about underage content don't make much sense.  I don't see anything remotely "pedo" about this post, but since the a US Court ruled that any underage images on a sex board can be considered "pedo" I've had to edit this one. *****
